@fictionalred gifted me these heddles for band weaving but I've been a bit stuck on them because I haven't been able to find a good resource on using them. Does anyone have a bandweaving guide that is very visual, aimed at rigid heddle users, and has example patterns mapped to the threading?
I wasn't sure what I should weave into my first belt, once I had some appropriate yarn all ready to go; I finally figured out how to do a double-faced design (where the back mirrors the front and—just as crucially—there are no fucking floats, so the surface of the finished piece isn't Constantly at risk of getting snagged on stuff) without tablet weaving (which didn't work well with this width of Thing, on my Very Small Loom, with this type of yarn, & didn't really please me wrt how much control I had over The Any Of It, anyway), & OBVIOUSLY I bought these colors with the express intent of doing Astos Stuff with them, but Images would be kinda difficult with (again) this Type and amount of yarn, & Stranger of Paradise is really very subtle with its visual motifs in the first place...
...But Then I Realized: I could do sentences.
The Shit That Ultima Weapon Origin Says makes me completely insane, so I decided to weave some of that. I will happily wear this freak's sentences in particular on my real human body every day of my life that the opportunity presents itself. Look at my this!
I translated the game's subtitle font as faithfully as I could into a bandweaving pattern—I couldn't possibly know how MUCH of sentences I could fit on the length of band I wanted to make, so I decided to start at the end, with "chaos." I then wove backwards from there, doing a few words at a time, & came back to the pattern editor anytime I ran out to design a little more... in the end I got about halfway through "strength," which I'm pretty pleased with!
It got really tough to pull the warp threads for the reverse side into position towards the end, lol. I kept going for as long as I could.
In contrast, there are a ton of visible errors on the reverse side at the beginning—which is kind of a beautiful happy accident, since that's the "chaos" part! It genuinely took me riiight around the length of the "of chaos" phrase to figure out what I was doing, & after that everything looks nice & smooth, even on the back. I got a lot faster as I went, too.
I'll still have to finish the ends on this thing in some way (??? suggestions welcome; my heart is saying "tie a big triangley knot in each end & be done with it"), & I'll run it through the washer at some point (my goal in making Anything Wearable is for it to also be washable as fuck), which I suppose will incidentally wet-finish it, kinda. But as far as I'm concerned, in the meantime I can wear it on my walk this evening. Practical. Fashionable. So completely inexplicable to all but ~10 people on planet Earth. It's everything I hoped it would be...
Hello! Do you happen to still have the pattern for this double ramshead band?

Pretty sure that's this one:
Good luck! I really like these ramsheads patterns (high interest for its simplicity) but it turns out they're too modern for use on viking era clothes.

I finally finished weaving my snowy band! Instead of being done and moving on, I've decided to sew a little drawstring project bag to feature it. This will be the first time I've incorporated my weaving into a larger project, which I've been meaning to do for a while now! It'll also be my first time sewing a bag.
I was planning on embroidering a couple scattered stars on the fabric to tie it into the band, but things quickly got out of hand.
Several days and many, many, podcasts later, this is where I'm at. The embroidery is done, and I've very roughly mocked up the bag so I can plan out the rest of it. The starry fabric to the left will be the bag's lining.
I really want to weave or braid the drawstrings with the remainder of the loom waste, but it's all a bit too short. I don't think it'd be worth knotting them together to add length. Currently debating what to do. (I played and won a dangerous game of yarn chicken with 3/5 of the fibers I used. The loom waste is all I've got)
I dropped all my other projects to finish this in time for pride and it's finally done!! I wanted some cool aro merch (since I have absolutely nothing so far), and what's cooler than dragons?
The heart shaped flag was embroidered on afterward, and if you look closely, there are a bunch of tiny flags woven into the border.
My original intention was to use this as a long patch for the back of my denim jacket. But it makes a pretty cool necklace?? If only I didn't have to chop off half the design to realize my vision... (I have yet to commit, this is just tied on with a big ol bulky knot in the back)
