“I made the right decision. I had information for Lord Vader”. SELF CONFIDENT Q U E E N
(spoilers ahead for The Empire Strikes Back: A Certain Point of View: Lord Vader will see you now)
There were two ways I was expecting this story to go: Sloane gets a huge reprimanding and she’s sad 🥺 Or Sloane puts on her sassy attitude and thrives. I would like to clarify it is indeed the second one.
I won’t explain the whole story because I’m sure people will want to read it on their own first, however I will be commenting on a few of my favourite lines and my thoughts on Sloane throughout the story.
So my queen, instantly we find out she was demoted from Vice Admiral as soon as she returned from her encounter with Jarrus 🥺 she’s panicking about losing the Ultimatum to a substitute Captain (how the tables have turned), she’s panicking about missing out all of the action (such as the battle of Hoth), and she’s stuck in a shuttle with Deltic (ah yes, Lieutenant StrangeChild) who’s just as annoying as ever. She’s having a rough week, send her hugs.
A few moments later she discovers Ultimatum has been destroyed 😞 poor thing, her day just can’t any worse.
“She hadn’t cried since childhood” O H
However being a clever imperial, Sloane is the only one in the entire fleet who can put together the Mynock corpses are linked to the recent whereabouts of the rebels, which later on Vader congratulates her on, she’s able to make these quick links and use her exterior knowledge to link the space slugs.
(I will say they made Piett slightly annoying in this short story, which I suppose was done to add likability to Sloane, but I thought that was a shame as he’s always been known for his less harsh ways I suppose? 😐 they also made Deltic incredibly childish, but again, I suppose they need to drag down the minors to make the major shine.)
And while Piett is in the middle of reprimanding Sloane for these ‘silly’ actions, Vader is revealed and clearly on Sloane’s side. We stan their teamwork. She admits she’s finally speaking up after being unseen for so long, she’s ready for a change. Y e s.
OUR QUEEN ALSO IMMEDIATELY GETS THE VIGILANCE. LIKE ON THE SPOT. NO MESSIN.
(It was supposed to be Piett’s nephews too 🤭)
“You two, in there, there’s a body to carry out 😏”
Overall: 8/10. Can’t wait for more of her. So much better representation than in squadrons.
