Sh*t my family says every year at Passover, as if it were a new thought they’d never spoken before but seriously they say it every year.

I can expect these like clock work.

“We should really make and eat Charoset all year round. It’s so good!”

“I don’t understand why we have to drink Kosher for Passover wine. There is no bread in wine!!” (- me)

“Ya know when my mother used to make the seder, she’d make it for 25 people and she used to do all of this by hand - without a Mixer. Can you imagine?” (-Mom)

[Takes a bite of Matzah.] “Blech! It’s so bland.” ( -Dad) 

[Someone picks up the piece of matzah with Charoset on it and start eating it.]

“Wait! We didn’t say the prayer yet!” “We already said the prayer.” “That prayer was just for matzah alone! Then we have to say another prayer for the Charset sandwich.” “We do?”

“Did you know that it was Miriam and the other women who really kept Moses alive?! And they KNEW he was Jewish!” (- Mom)

Family Member: “It’s time for the 4 Questions!!” [Everyone looks at me. I’m in my 30’s.] Me: “NO.”

“Who made the Charoset? (Rachel) Oh, Rachel great job! It’s really delicious!”

The year was 1992 and Rachel was about to become a “woman.” Travel back in time to fluorescent scrunchies, Boyz II Men hits and Rachel’s own Bat Mitzvah - as she takes us on her journey to womanhood through true stories, bigger than life characters, and obviously - choreographed dances. What does it mean to be a woman? Also: you guys were all awkward back then too, right?

It’s become my tradition to do a year-end wrap up, and this is certainly a year that deserves it. After performing comedy regularly for over 10 years, I finally took the plunge and quit my day job in order to pursue this passion of mine full time. Going out on my own has been one of the scariest steps I’ve ever taken, but the most rewarding. It is not lost on me that I am incredibly lucky to get paid working at doing what I love.
