By “don’t appreciate this difference” I’m just thinking of all these posts like “just ignore trans activists, we waste too much time on them, there are so many other things to discuss” or “just turn off your computer and go live your life if it gets too much” - it’s easier for non-lesbian women to keep themselves sane by temporarily focusing on other things, or by having a terf sideblog and a main blog where they are free to exist as het and bi women with other interests and hobbies, while lesbians can’t just decide to free our minds and lives from this stuff (*) by compartmentalising or ignoring it because we aren’t safe from these confrontations anywhere, as soon as we want to do or mention anything having to do with being a lesbian. (Someone said it has become a second closet for us and that’s really accurate.) Can’t even touch anything related to lesbian culture with a ten foot pole, like having a labrys as your icon, because lesbian symbols are TERF symbols.  (* For example, I see from the statistics of my sideblog that a lot of people immediately search for keywords like “trans” or “terf” as soon as they realise it’s a lesbian book blog, and then steal & repost the quotes, or make ‘OP is a TERF’ comments and warn people off the blog, even when this blog has nothing to do with radfem or trans stuff. I have several mutuals who have (or used to have) a non-lesbian-related blog about a hobby, with just ‘lesbian’ in their about, and who said people regularly performed the same routine checks, so they’d find random aggressive asks demanding they detail their sexual boundaries and opinion on trans stuff among the discourse-free posts on their dash.)

the trans community isn’t punk! conservatives hating you doesn’t make you punk, it just means you’re not conservative. punk is about rejecting systems, not feeding them 30k for surgery and calling that liberation.

there’s nothing rebellious about reinforcing the most rigid body/gender norms capitalism ever sold. and let’s be honest they’ll turn on anyone who steps out of line. it's not community, it's conformity

bootlicking wrapped in dyed hair and pronoun pins. punk was never about being validated, it was about being unwanted and still spitting in the face of the world anyway.

like sorry, but if your motto is “i was born in the wrong body” you’re not punk, you’re parroting beauty myths in a new accent. punk is about owning the body they said was wrong, not buying your way into the “right” one.

the world told you to hate yourself and instead of burning that down, you bought in.

punk isn’t saying “i was born wrong.”

punk is saying “you were wrong to tell me that.” 🖕

loving your body in a world that profits off your dysphoria is rebellion. saying “i’m fine as i am there is no right way to be a woman or a man” is radical.
