for the first time, im not only lonely but also alone.

i haven’t talked to someone like a real person in weeks. i didn’t even realize it until i called my best friend from home for the first time since i got here and everything just spilled out uncontrollably. she goes “that was so much word vomit (when you have so many thoughts/things to say and they just spew out all jumbled), what gives” and in that moment i realized it was because i haven’t had a single conversation since i’ve been in london where im not introducing myself or just trying to get by. there’s been no one to share the laughs, joys, fears, anger and curiosities with.

i miss barcelona and my friends and the warmth of the sun even when it’s chilly. but i love london and the foggy mornings and walks along the river at night. i just want someone to share it with. i want someone to be in these memories when i look back.

for a long time, there was nothing i wanted more on earth then to be in a place far from home where no one knows me and i could just start over. well, here i am in a big, foreign city ive dreamt of since i was a kid and it doesn’t feel right. it’s not wrong but it’s not right.

i cant tell if i overestimated my ability to be an independent city girl or if maybe the reality of my dream to be alone in london is just being lonely in london.
