Mini Figure Madness

Does that toy's consciousness cease to exist and a new one get created? OR does consciousness follow the head? Or worse still, because lego is a system of play, is it like the borg and all lego parts are part of a single multi-body consciousness? Do all lego bricks ever created have one conscious mind? Or is it only the bricks from each set that have a collective consciousness.

Maybe it work by the magic of ownership? For example all Andy's bricks have one consciousness, but his sister's would have another. Perhaps the minifigures have different logic than the bricks without faces because they were intended to be assembled a particular way into a particular identity. Do they live in fear of their parts being swapped and becoming a new person? Or do they swap out body parts as easily as mr potato head swaps eyes?

Mr potato head 's consiousness seems to live in his collective parts since he became a tortilla in, i think, toy story 3. So consciousness seems to follow the face. But we never see him swapparts with another potato head to see the results. The only swapping of parts we see is with Sid and the consciousness of those resulting toys are not explained. Sids actions are framed as terrifying and evil by the toy's perspectives. We don't know if they retained their original factory consciousness or became something new when taken apart and rebuilt the way Sud does. That is still different than lego, because none of those toys were designed to be taken appart like that unlike lego.

Factory consciousness is a thing. We see it with buzzlight year so the manufacturer of the toys plays a role in shaping that consciousness. Lego is designed to be taken appart and put back together. Does the designers intentions mean the minifigures are okay with all of this body swapping?
