8/22 - please help if you can
I’m making a new post because my last one didn’t get many reblogs.
July 31st, my best friend / roommate broke her arm in a car accident & her car is totaled. she was leaving work, pulled through a green light, and was hit by a driver running a red light. I’m disabled & unable to work, and I rely on my friend for housing. we always live paycheck to paycheck, but she’s been out of work since the accident - she was approved for temporary disability today, but we’re not sure when she’s getting that & it will probably all have to go to rent for September. thanks to y’all, we were able to pay our phone & electricity bills for this month. however, we need to buy food, toilet paper, trash bags, soap, etc.
in a few days I’m traveling back to Mississippi (where I’m from) to see family and to get some of my things. I don’t know that I’ve talked about it on this blog, but I started transitioning in May of this year. that’s why this trip is really important to me - I haven’t had a change in voice or anything my family would notice, but I will soon. once I come out to them I probably won’t have a family anymore. this might be my last chance to see them unless I decided to stop transitioning, which I don’t think is the right decision for me. gas for the trip is covered, but I still need to buy the aforementioned things, and it would be nice to have a little $ for a hotel if I get sick and need to stop on the way there (it’s a 17 hour trip driving, & I can’t fly due to health stuff.)
as my followers probably know, I’m disabled by severe chronic pain & multiple chronic illnesses. due to a condition affecting the mast cells, I also have a lot of food & chemical allergies - a lot. I have to cook all my meals from scratch, I have to use a certain brand of bottled water for cooking, and I have to buy toiletries free of fragrance & other stuff that I’m allergic to. this makes survival a lot more expensive for me.
