I have always been part of the he did it camp and I knew he could go to prison for a long time but I wasn’t ready for everything to change today. The timeline completely moved, even if the state trial does happen is very unlikely it will start next month.

I don’t know him but I’m mourning him in a way.

I don't know him but the quotes from people who knew him, showed me a sliver of his personality and I liked what I saw.

I don't know him but I can't stop thinking he has a bigger purpose than going to prison.

I don't know him but I wish he could be free. I wish he could start from scratch, live life, fall in love, have a family and get to read the Lorax to his kids.

I don't know him but I remember the quote from someone that knew him –"He is the most gentle soul you could possibly meet" – and it breaks my heart.

We live in an awful world that breaks the most gentle souls and for once I wanted one of us to win. To beat all the odds and defeat the system, it was a dream and sometimes dreaming and having hope is worse than having none but I guess I wouldn't have it any other way.

Unpopular opinion: I'm actually really proud of him for telling more than he needed to and sacrificing himself to make a point about investors being valued more than doctors or patients. It's not like he had much a chance at freedom anyway.I believe this is what he wanted.

I believe he only plead not guilty initially to avoid being labeled a terrorist like Ted K as he mentioned in his journal and once the terrorism and death penality charges where dropped, he was able to acheive his end goal of telling his story. Perhaps there was pressure to also do an emotional disturbance thing from his parents or something, but he doesn't want people to think he's crazy or sorry and for that I admire him. Maybe there was a fight and that's why his family wasn't there. Perhaps it took a while to craft a statement so unapologetic without seeming psycho or extra with it.

Nevertheless, to stand so firmly in front of Brian's family and never say sorry was truly bold. I love that he connected his pain to the broader picture and wasn't overly self centered or cucked in his statement.

I believe this will go down in history and should solidify a strong legacy even after the victim impact statements. This case is so much more significant than the freedom of one man.
