“M-Morty! I need you to-”
“Um…a-actually! I’m kind of b-busy today, Rick…”
Turning his head Rick could only see a part of Morty leaving the garage’s doorway before hearing the front door close a moment later.
“So uh…w-why did you want t-to meet me here?”
“I uh…just wanted to h-hangout.”
Morty cursed his nerves for making him practically squeal the last word. He swallows thickly, looking up at Alex timidly. He was looking at his feet timidly, face red. Even so, he was towering over him.
He shook his head, forcing an awkward smile. “Do you like…cat videos?”
“M-Morty! Pabluahss the-”
The door slams again before Rick can even turn, and he thinks he might break a blood vessel with how hard he’s furrowing his eyebrow.
Morty stumbles forward nearly knocking Alex down when a portal opens behind him. Alex turns, pulling Morty close as he watches in awe at something he’s only ever he’d heard about happening behind him.
“Mobuurghrty! Why have you left ag-”
Rick looks at Morty, dumbfounded. He then glances to Alex who was holding him protectively close. He narrows his eyes and steps forward.
Alex clears his throat, biting back his nerves as he releases Morty with one hand, holding it out to the elder.
“H-Hey. I’m- well I don’t know if you’ve heard about me-”
“J-Just because my family-”
Rick rubs his face, annoyed and in disbelief. Morty had a boyfriend. A jock, too. He never thought he’d see the day.
Of course both were stuttering, awkward idiots.
Both teens shut their mouths with a click.
Rick sighs, dropping his hand with a huff. He glares at Alex making him tense, face bright red.
“Weekdays M-Morty’s mine after school. W-Weekends I could care less ablughbout.”
Morty looks at him in shock. “R-Really? I can-”
“Yes. F-Fuck, Mort. Don’t act like an idiot a-around your boytoy. This i-is a one in a lifetime opportunity.”
Alex was about to stand up for Morty when the other suddenly hugs Rick.
it’s been a while since @irkenclemcuttie sent me this amazingly cute fic about morty and alex, but i definitely wanted to sketch something to accompany it :’) thinking about them in awkward first date sceneiros is just The Stuff. thank you, i’m so glad you ended up liking alex so much!! 💖
