1. Give Yourself a Unique and Quirky Name

A short and effective name for your café/restaurant is highly recommended! Names that are eye-catching may be the reason people stop by and grab a coffee here. Names that people can remember, puns are recommended too. So, make sure to brainstorm name ideas before setting up your business!

2. Make Your Café Colourful 

Everyone loves a bit of colour in their lives! Have a look around your café/restaurant, is it bright? is it colourful? If you answered ‘no’ to both of these questions then you may need to reconsider the design of it. Having a colourful and unique design to your café will attract new customers and overall increase profits in your business! So, what are you waiting for, bring out the paint!

3. Lively Music

Lively music can attract customers into your café, not only that, they may even spend longer there as they enjoy the music! Maybe mix up your playlist and see which songs are best for your customers.

There has been a huge hype for coffee trucks over the past few months due to Covid-19 restrictions. Here at Quirky Cafés, we are hopping on that trend!

We visited Mugg Uggly this week in Carrikmines, Dublin, to get a first-hand insight into the coffee truck business! It’s a simple and cheap way of giving people what they want- coffee. With these coffee trucks, comes no high rental and electricity charges. So innovative!

We had to order something while we were there. Mocha’s are our favourite but these ones were especially delicious. The simple white coffee cup with their branding is really effective too. 

How lovely is this café in Liverpool 🌸

Designed by a local florist, The Florist Liverpool is a botany-filled restaurant delight! Did you know, this is also the most photographed bar in the whole of the city.

Decorated with in-bloom trees, floral photo wall and artwork by famous graffiti artists. Not only that, The Florist Liverpool also has a scrumptious menu and yummy cocktails to enjoy!

What makes you decide on which café to grab your Monday morning wake me up coffee in? Is it the short queue that invites you in? Or the warm heater above the door? What about the café sign outside? Well here are some of the funniest café signs to make you chuckle!

1. Our Coffee Does Yoga

We can’t help but laugh at this café sign! A classic joke for any yoga lovers. Found outside Bean Café in L.A. we are pretty sure that this sign brought in a lot of customers!

2. Husband Day Care

Need a break from your loved one to relax or go shopping? Leave your husband with Edinburgh’s oldest husband day care! This sign is for the light hearted and shouldn’t be taken too seriously. They offer a ‘standard package’ that includes one pint, and a ‘deluxe package’ including double whisky!

3. Bored...and Still Bored

We love this sign here at Quirky Cafés. Before coffee = bored. When you get your coffee = bored, but with a coffee! We can’t stop laughing!

4. It’s Going to Rain Once the Sign is Out

This is a old classic, hence the photo quality! Found outside a café in Ireland, this is very relative to the Irish as it always rains.

5. Fitness Whole Cake in my Mouth

Last but not least is this hilarious sign! What a funny pun. Fitness is seen as something healthy, but this cupcake type of fitness this sign is taking about isn’t so healthy!

The caffeine in coffee acts as a stimulant to the nervous system. Studies have found that caffeine can help with alertness and overall performance. As well as this, coffee can make the process of learning and processing information easier.

2. Coffee Helps You Lose Weight

Coffee contains magnesium and potassium. This allows for the body to use insulin which eliminates cravings for sugary foods. Studies have also found that caffeine can increase fat burning by as much as 10 percent!

3.     Coffee Can Make You Happy

Coffee release dopamine in your brain which produces happy feelings. It makes you feel happy because coffee stimulates dopamine and glutamate in the brain. This is why you might find yourself wanting more!

4.     Coffee Can Keep Your Heart Healthy

Coffee can help reduce heart problems by 20 percent. Studies have found that coffee can support heart health. It can stop arterial damage caused by inflammation. It’s amazing what coffee can do!

5.     Coffee Can Improve Performance During Exercise

Coffee can help increase endurance while doing physical exercise. This will allow you to last longer during your workout which will make you burn more calories and become fitter.

5. Draughts, Haggerston, London

Draughts is a board game café hidden in the heart of London where you can sip on a your favourite beer while playing your favourite board game. Draughts is not the only board game name you will see in this café! There is a library full of games here for you to choose from. From Kerplunk to Family Fortunes, there is something here for everyone!

4. The Attendant, Foley Street, London

The Attendant at Foley Street is a former Victorian toilet that has been transformed into one of London’s best coffee & brunch cafes. Rest assured this café is not an active toilet, instead it is a place where you can relax over an espresso blend direct from the Attendant Roastery. Yummy!

3. Robot Restaurant, Tokyo

Dine at Robot Restaurant and you will get more than you bargained for! Get ready for the most crazy dining experience in the world. Robot Restaurant is a themed restaurant with a pop-culture show and a performance with robotic monsters, music, lasers and fun!

2. Modern Toilet, Taiwan

Dining in toilets seems to be a common recurrence on this ‘top 5s’ list! Dining at Modern Toilet in Taiwan allows you to eat out of a toilet bowl…not literally. The menu features pasta dishes, steak and sandwiches, catering for everyone!

1. Cereal Killer Café, Brick Lane, London

If you are a cereal lover then this café is for you! Located in the heart of London, Cereal Café is a place you can relax and munch away on your favourite breakfast cereals. All you need to do is pick a cereal of your choice, add your favourite milk flavour and then nom away!

A lazy afternoon, high tea and cakes…and cats?!

Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium is a fabulous tearoom located in Central London and also home to lots of adopted cats. In fact, it is the UK’s longest established Cat Cafe! Visit from 12.00pm-6.00pm, 6 days a week, to enjoy afternoon tea while being surrounded by furry friends.

Sipping on a cappuccino has never looked so good!
