Our two main leads are flawed and this is a story of two people who are flawed coming together and learning to love while dealing with the politics' of there time.

It goes deep into how Eunuch's are treated and also explains our Male leads sever inferiority complex that is a constant block in his relationship with the Female lead.
Zhao Zimu has been alone for as long as she can remember. Her father is scum and neglected her so she was raised by her aunt who taught her martial arts ever since she was young. Due to her upbringing she is very apathetic to the world around her and does not care for worldly things because the world has never thought to even think of her. She is very skilled in martial arts and resourceful but in her first life when her father sells her off Jin Qiangsu (Lin Qing) she spends her days lazing around in peace because she just doesn't care about much.
Only when she dies does she find out that Jin Qiangsu is willing to die for her but she doesn't know why.
So in her second life she aims to find out why and that is were there story starts.
This novel is honestly so very fun and I can't wait to share it with everyone while I read it.

Role-reversal in Japan will probably be very difficult to find; there are manga that border on role-reversal and are nice and funny, but definitely not fully role-reversal.
In Japan, when it comes to gender roles, only the expression is addressed, not the gender roles themselves.
I see a lot of crossdressing (which is what bothers me, why THEY can't create a completely feminine man)
But gender roles never change; they are almost the same or neutral.

What do you think about the Glyphs for GNC and the Virago Mollis labels?
So far we have:
β - Earth (Virago)
β΄ - Pallas/Athena (Virago)
β³ - Ceres (Mollis)
β΄ - Juno (Mollis)

Both contenders for the Virago symbols are very hard to choose between. But the edge has to go to Pallas because of an attached history the first symbol can have to christian symbology (even if the design is really cool). The only downside for some may beis that Pallas looks too similar to the venus symbol, I particularly don't mind.
The mollis ones...symbolically make less sense, but I like the designs. Both signs take from goddesses of fertility and motherhood (like literally every other goddess, lets be real). Which isn't really something for feminine men.
Visually, I like β΅ better since it looks cool with β΄ :).
for the β΄ vs β debate: personally i love both equally. what i think would break the tie for me is what we end up choosing for the mollis symbol and whether the symbology fits best. they should look good together
i do want to say in regards to β: it is the alchemic symbol of antimony, and yessss it gets its name from being used to poison monks. i get how that may be offensive, i do have mixed feelings on the bible because it condemns women dressing and living masculine and vice versa, but i do acknowledge theres some sects of christianity that are more progressive
mainly, antimony symbolizes wildness, and the beastial nature within, fighting "domestication", as well as has associations to wolves, which have no gendered hierarchy and share hunting and rearing offspring equally
but i do think having athena represent the virago community is cool as hell, i love that shes associated with both war and wisdom, and that shes usually got a weapon in hand. also most early depictions had her in masculine clothes which. yes
now for mollis: i have a few different suggestions
if we wanted it to match with antimony/metals, we could go with π, which is the symbol for gold, associated with perfection and transformation. sounds a little fancy i know, but i like that it somewhat resembles the male symbol but different, and because it goes with the color orange
it is also represented by β, which symbolizes the sun (a lot of materials were associated with planets) and the god apollo, who was considered "the most beautiful of the gods" and was associated with healing, prophecy, archery, poetry and music
one reason i like this one is because β + β = π±, so we'd have something built in for nonbinary people to use
lastly theres also eros, son of aphrodite, another beautiful male god of love and desire. this is his symbol:

This is literally the entire critique of role reversal, and adds "should be equal" (she herself is not equal to her partner and is hyper feminine with a masculine man)
Gender nonconformity is not merely an act, aesthetic, or isolated expression. It is a social position occupied by people whose personhood is understood through a sustained divergence from normative expectations of masculinity and femininity. GNC as an act does not place you as 'GNC'. Much like how preforming homosexual acts briefly, or mockingly wouldn't give you the lived experiences of GNC people.
A woman wearing masculine clothing once does not necessarily occupy the same social position as a masculine woman. A man experimenting with feminine presentation does not necessarily share the lived reality of a feminine man. The distinction is not the performance itself, but the social meaning attached to a person whose appearance, mannerisms, embodiment, and self-conception consistently place them outside expected gender norms.
Gender-nonconforming people are therefore not examples of nonconforming behavior. They constitute a distinct social class whose members are interpreted, regulated, and often targeted because their existence destabilizes the assumed relationship between sex, gender, masculinity, and femininity actively.
The goal of GNC liberation is not to assimilate everyone into gender nonconformity. It is not to abolish masculinity, femininity, or gendered ways of being. Rather, it is to recognize that gender-nonconforming people possess their own modes of existence and deserve political recognition on their own terms. Masculine women, feminine men, and others whose lives are organized around enduring forms of gender nonconformity should not be treated as temporary deviations from a norm, but as legitimate social subjects with distinct experiences, cultures, and histories.
Current Queer political models and philosophies have NO structure for GNC people as a unique class, nor do they have for Trans GNC individuals.
Any adequate model of gender must therefore account for gender nonconforming people not merely as individuals who perform nonconforming acts, but as sovereign individuals whose relationship to gender constitutes a recognizable and enduring social realities visible, yet willfully ignored throughout cultures.
