Don't Tell Anyone: Lumity
Amity pursed her lips. “I didn’t come from the healthiest of homes, Luz.”
“I wouldn’t of known,” Luz whispered. “Is that why you came to live with your aunt?”
Amity inhaled sharply. “I, uh? Kinda. I mean, Eda isn’t my real aunt. But she did save me. It’s all complicated.”
“I’m here to listen,” Luz put her hand over Amity’s. “If you want to talk about it.”
“I don’t want to burden you, Luz. I can tell you have your own stuff going on,” Amity tried her best not to look at Luz’s arms. Her sleeves hadn’t rolled up, but once Amity even glanced at it for a second, Luz seemed to understand.
“I’m alright, really,” Luz whispered. “No need to worry about me.”
“I wont push you,” Amity said. “But if you need anything, anything, you can message me. I’ll come over, find you, whatever you need. Call me even.”
Luz slumped in her seat and crossed her arms, almost as if she was challenging Amity to something. “Same to you.”
Amity smiled. “I’ll promise to come to you if you promise to do the same to me.” Luz’s guard fell. “I promise I’ll do my best, I really do. It’s just…hard, to be honest about anything with people. And please…don’t worry anyone else with this stuff. Like, my stuff. Don’t…like, tell anyone. That I’m not okay. Because I am.”
