The Pitt’s misogyny is interesting, really, because the women have screen time. They’re competent doctors. They are well-written in a general sense, i.e. people with dimension and personality. The misogyny is deeper than any of that, and it’s harder to see: the writers reach for biology when they want to give a woman depth because biology is where they think women’s depth lives. The show casts women — and multiple women of color, in particular — in prominent roles and then gives them stories about their uteruses, their eggs, their panic attacks, their bleeding. All the while, The Pitt gives men stories about what it means to lead and what integrity costs. <...> The show has the same instinct: it can see gender bias when an EMT does it, but it cannot see gender bias when its own writers do it. <...> Each one of these reveals the same default: competence is male, and women who demonstrate it earn his surprise.

Oh nonnie. I’m going to go off the top of my head and list the bullshit I’ve witnessed against, Cami, her fans, and sometimes Leah Pipes.. If anyone else thinks of anything please add on. Disclaimer: I AM AWARE NOT EVERYONE IN THE FANDOM IS LIKE THIS. However, if you get mad at this post, chances are you’re guilty. Hit dogs will holler. Now onto my list (in no particular order):

 Any woman who stands up to Klaus is badass, EXCEPT Cami. When she does she hurts Klaus’ feelings and should be physically punished.

Cami understanding and empathizing with Klaus =Coddling. Insert any other character, they’re understanding who he is.

Cami is either a coddling enabler or a stuck up bitch (depending on her scenes  with Klaus)

Cami’s family has been around for a hundred years keeping peace. They have a legacy. No one questioned this with Kieran. However when it comes to Cami she needs to leave NO because she has no place, even though she has just as much right as the other characters. You know what separates her from the others? She’s in love with Klaus, and he’s in love with her. So GTFOH Cami

When Hayley kept getting kidnapped or put in danger in season 1, she’s a badass queen because she tries to escape. However when  Cami’s taken she’s a damsel, even though she fights back and tries to escape on her own, and uses her mind.

Aurora takes Freya, there’s an outcry and she isn’t a damsel. Aurora took Cami and not only is Cami a damsel, but it’s her fault she got taken. It’s not like A) her life was in danger with Antoine and B) Aurora would have killed Antoine and took Cami anyway.

Hayley “mourned” for MONTHS and needed MONTHS to adjust to being a hybrid because she considered herself a monster and the fandom was understanding. Cami needed a DAY to fully consider whether she wanted to turn or not and she’s overdramatic and attention seeking.

Elijah tried to kill Klaus in TVD. Rebekah and Marcel called Mikael to NO, and Rebekah admitted she wanted Klaus dead. Freya was going to stab him with the wos. Hayley was going to separate him from his daughter forever. He doesn’t kill any of them = growth in character. Cami steals the toy, not to kill Klaus but as a bargaining chip, and it’s OOC for Klaus to not kill her.

Klaus calls Hayley little wolf, the mother of his child, and his ons. He calls Rebekah sister. But these titles have a deeper meaning. Klaus is secretly in love with them, depending on who you ask. HOWEVER Klaus calls Cami his therapist so that’s all he sees her as, even though they’ve kissed, he referred to their status as intimates, and has all but declared he loved her.

For two seasons now most of Davina’s actions have been motivated by Kol. But no one seems to mind that. The REAL female who’s obsessed is Cami. Her world revolves around Klaus. Even though she has a job, went to school, and did some work on the side. 

We NEVER SEE Cami with humans, or doing regular things so she must be obsessed. Cami needs to be SHOWN doing day to day activities or the fandom won’t believe it. But we can believe Davina’s in school even though we never see it. We can believe Hayley’s still ruling the wolves even though we haven’t seen her with them all season except Jack’s funeral. We can believe Klaus and Hayley take care of Hope although every time she’s onscreen they’re handing her off. We also believe Davina and Freya take shits when they need to even though we never see them on the toilet.

Cami isn’t a part of the family even though it’s clear they view her as such.

 Cami drops TO’s ratings. She causes the show to fail.

In s2 Cami had no sl. Now she has too much and is taking away from other characters who have had ample sl over the season.

Aurora and Klaus were better than Cami and Klaus since the character was first mentioned.  When we saw the flashbacks it was amazing because no woman had EVER supported Klaus like Aurora. Even though Cami’s done nothing but since she’s known Klaus.

Cami is held to a much higher standard than any other character. It’s a colossal double standard. If she makes a mistake she needs to die. Other characters make mistakes and not only are they forgiven but deemed deep and flawed.

Cami’s personal narrative is constantly disregarded. As is her relationship with Klaus. The funniest part is that this is done by people who claim to know Klaus better than anyone. They can write metas on one line said but can’t accept that he’s in love with Cami.

Cami is left out of gifsets titled “original ladies” I remember seeing one that was about Klaus protecting the women he cares about and they left off Cami, woman he died for.

Cami appreciation week is not supported fandom wide, nor does it get much promotion, but every other character appreciation week is.

Leah complains about hate sent her and she’s attention seeking, overdramatic, and needs to get over it. If Phoebe says tumblr makes her cry, deletes her twitter, and it its time to come together (NOT knocking Phoebe support, but when it comes to Leah isn’t not nearly on the same level)

Every other character dresses sexy and it’s accepted. They finally show  off Leah’s body and the writers are trying too hard to make her sexy.

Any other ship can post their biased anti metas in the original groupies tag even if they bash Cami. Cami and klamille fans shouldnt do it or talk about the hypocrisy in the fandom.

It’s honestly frustrating seeing us lowkey get made fun of for the exact things that keep a show alive.

Shipping, edits, fan fiction. That’s not an army of horn dogs, that’s people who are passionate about your show? And especially when it’s a ship the show itself has clearly been building, fans aren’t just making things up they’re responding to what’s already there.

No one is saying actors can’t have boundaries, and I absolutely believe that people need to STOP asking Pdeardz about Kingdon, but there’s a difference between that and making fans feel dumb for caring. Without that excitement and creativity, the show wouldn’t have the same impact.
