I came across your blog randomly and it feels providential haha. Your art style is gorgeous and the people you draw seem so alive and vibrant, they almost jump off the screen (is that even a phrase? but my point stands!). Most importantly, you draw women so, sooo well. I don't even know the fandoms, but more than once I have had to drop my phone and stare off into the distance. It's just so gorgeous and striking and stupendous. You've so much talent and skill, truly. and i have to be honest drawing women is genuinely my biggest struggle. i have a really complicated relationship with my own femininity so i find it really hard to draw women in a way that feels, i don't know, recognisably and comfortably feminine? i'm always second guessing myself and not posting the stuff i draw and it's the thing i feel least confident about in my art so to hear that it reads as gorgeous and striking to you is honestly so reassuring and kind, more than you know

How did everyone react to Maelor coming back from The Citadel?
maelor was gone long enough, and left young enough, that his return was met less with recognition than with a slow, embarrassed reassembly of memory. he had left as a quiet, forgettable boy and he came back tall and learned and into a court so hollowed out by a decade of losses that nobody had particularly kept track. against ashford, the great spring sickness, and his father and siblings death, a second son quietly studying in oldtown was not the thing anyone had been watching. he arrived without a reputation to live up to or live down, which suited him entirely :)

any advice on capturing likeness?
honestly the biggest thing for me is just using references and lots of them! pulling multiple photos of the same person from different angles really helps you understand their face rather than just copying one image. look for what makes them them. the specific shape of their nose, how their eyes sit, the way their brows curve. every face deviates from the "average" in some way and those little quirks are where the likeness lives :) and if a certain feature is giving you trouble, trace it first. not as a shortcut, but just to feel out the form then close the reference, redraw it and compare. you'll start to actually see the shape instead of just copying it. works really well for things like noses and mouths which i feel like you can fuck up really easy. and sometimes the likeness is just a little off and that's okay. like i'll draw someone and they look slightly like themselves but mostly like a cousin lmao, but the energy and vibe of the piece still feels right to me and i still love it. likeness is hard it just takes practice honestly!! the more faces you draw the more your eye learns to pick up on what makes each one unique 💪
