Elio boyfailture is actually an amazing way to describe him. I get a feeling he actually will be one in game, idk why. I really hope he will have a lot of dimensions outside of "I'm suffering wewee" and "I'm acting like I don't suffer" that hoyo loves, but tries to move past this planet to some degree.

His jacket in this shot doesn't look too terrible, yes, compared to the designs we usually have it really lacks details. The black of his jacket is blank, which is unusual for characters. The purples are too dark for them to pop cut it could be lighting, silver holding the LEDs only in few places while in other it's held by nothing makes it seem a little... unfinished. Lacking usual care for the character's look.
The easiest way to compare it is with The Dahlia that despite having white dress has multiple accessories and details that don't make her dress blank.
On each side something is uneven, different, asymmetrical, whatever you want to call itβ something is happening no matter where you look at this pretty lady. Nothing is blending and pops the right amount to not be overwhelming.
That's why he seems not to belong immediately. He is symmetrical, you can see by the LEDs and lack of actually anything that doesn't seem to not be on the other side. He seems unsuit for the universe he's set it.
My theory? That's his beta design and it will get tweaked.
Or, he won't be playable at all.
And you may ask why, I'm forcing you to do this actually.
The only symmetrical designs we actually have are characters:
A) npc, important to the story enough to be unique but not playable in any way that matters
B) characters revenant to the story, but their form will change
His most prominent factors are his eyes, we get focus on them through the whole video more than I want to count.
He looks exhausted, his hair doesn't match his lashes which makes it weird. And I know, usually lashes are black, but turquoise? Rn he has too many colors in him: silver, black, white, blue LEDs, purple, different purple, white, dark blue, different blue. Too many colors in weird places with no explanation.
Designs usually don't want too many colors, it's easy to remember white, black, silver, red and pink/purple even if amount of detail is crazy when they're interconnected. The red-pink is in one place on Asheveil's design, similar to silver, or black.
