Over the years, the dissemination of information has ripened and evolved. We have witnessed these transitions from the use of newspapers to the accessible use of technology which we are partaking today. These played a major influence on how we obtain news daily. Print media is deemed as the fundamental foundation of the news and has been around for hundreds of years. Johannes Gutenberg formulated this sort of medium by his invention- the printing press in 1440. As we get farther in the development of these communication tools, knowing its purpose is a must, for us to identify when and where should we use it for. Newspaper, books, magazines are just some of the print media which can be physically written or electronically printed to make a hardbound copy. Universities and any other institutions most demand the need to generate books for student learning and research building. People may confuse the distinction of print, broadcast, and new media. However, the broadness of their dissimilarities does not conceal the interrelation of these media. The features may vary but the objective secures the circulation of information throughout the world.

However, we are coming into the age of new media where the forms of media are expanding to social media and online outlets. As innovation has fluctuated over the previous century so as the types of media. Media has begun to progress from old media to new media. Old media is the type of media that individuals structure the past age actually utilize normally like your radio, paper, and TV. Additionally, the old type of media is not versatile enough to be compared to what is the new media is doing in these present times. In terms of business, new media has emerged in this century, advertising-wise people does have access and many users in any kind of new media nowadays that is why when the particular business makes ads, there are more people that can possibly see the ads. In second grade, we were asked “What would life be 10 years from now?” Let’s be honest here, the development of information literacy of a person would be the last thing that a young mind can come up with as an answer to that question. However, look at how information is being disseminated now. With a variety of mediums, we can easily find the information that we’re looking for in a blink of an eye. The raging progress of development of this literacy skill contributes a lot to the welfare of the people in the society. It renders essential knowledge that can be carried throughout one's life. This aspect matter most to generation Z. Day by day, we are acquiring information through social media, and by that, the need to be knowledgeable in recognizing and assessing information is a must to be able to use it more effectively and efficiently.

In this century, where technologies have evolved significantly, skills of this particular matter are valuable for a lifetime. Individuals who progressively improve this specific ability will do something effectively, for instance, students will have a good seize of information literacy. As they learn in higher education, it is required to have the skills of retrieving, organizing, analyzing, and identifying the information they see wherever they go. Moreover, students who do have these skills will be able to comprehend if the information is out-of-date, misleading, or fake. As they grow older, they will become the more efficient, independent, and information-seeking individuals that know things through experiences, but in some instances, people, especially students will not be able to think of their own answers for they rely on the conclusions available on the internet. However, this shiftlessness can be alleviated by giving ourselves the knowledge to evaluate the information we obtain daily. It might not be easy but a little motivation on changing our ways would be the starting point of something great.
