I think this is the moment Dan knew Matthew had made the decision to chance his heart once again…

…unblinking, confident look; that slight tightening of the jaw followed by that deliciously slow smile… all doubts gone

and then the subtext of this exchange: 

“what about it?” “

                                                                Why not?”

… earning this moment of exquisite happiness… I’ve never seen Mary so happy than in that moment… 

Her thoughts could be more or less this: “He is acting strangely while talks about this woman, giving compliments. I need more informations".

Her face in the second gif is precious. Like: “I need to meet her, to know why he is so monosyllabic right now!”.

In the third gif she is trying to tease him, maybe to see how he would react with the perspective that she would meet her, and maybe ask her about his past. They have a very little time on our screen, but their interaction as a couple is amazing and accurate. This is exactly how the most part of women I know would act.
