I get what you mean, but I'm glad I saw the April 28th teaser before answering because that's shifted my opinion even more to the "likely to happen" side.

In my last ask, before ep 8 aired, I said that while Harper/Stephanie definitely seemed like they were developing into something, the complicating factor was Stephanie and Turner's little moment in the ep before but also that Turner and Duela might have a good ep. Well, they did, lol, even more than I expected. Before this ep, I saw their relationship as more bickering siblings, but that's definitely not the case anymore.

At this point, both Harper/Stephanie and Duela/Turner have been so strongly established, I see three options for how Stephanie/Turner will be handled: it could be defused in a light-hearted way where they mutually agree the almost kiss was a mistake and they're more into someone else, it could create jealousy or a misunderstanding which still ends up solidifying the other two respective relationships, OR, the other two relationships end up as the contrast to show why they actually want to be with each other.

Obviously, the last case is the worst case (for us), and it really doesn't feel like that's where this is heading, not least because that Duela/Turner dress speechless scene has been the most overtly romantic by far, followed by the scars/wound cleaning scenes for Stephanie and Harper. Oh, I guess there's a fourth possibility, that they never acknowledge the Stephanie/Turner thing ever again, but this has been a pretty character and relationship-oriented show so far.

Oh, I forgot to mention, but on Twitter, Tyler DiChiara, who plays Cullen, has been hyping up Harper/Stephanie big time. Another tick in the "going to happen" column.

I don’t count sailor moon or dbz cuz you watched those as a kid and assumed they were cartoons.

I mean when you got “into” anime fully aware of what it was and actually became immmmmmersed in this bizarre weeb culture.

Me: Given the hair of the latter, five quid says there’s going to be gay all up in this joint by the end of this sce-

Arcane: And here’s one doing a kabe-don to make the other one uncomfortable, calling her hot, and asking if she’d prefer to proposition a man or a woman to blend in.

PS: Also, the standard “buddy-cops go to a brothel and one makes the other uncomfortable” gag doesn’t involve said cops flirting(?) with each other. Heck, they barely spend any time dealing with the actual person they’re there to see. Considering how Diverse™ the show is, it’s just Netflix being Netflix. PPS: Also, I’m fairly certain someone on the team has a fetish for tall brown musclegirls who get in fights. By episode 8, we’ve met 2, plus another brown lady who uses a gun. Oh, and they’re all some sort of authority figure in their culture. The musclegirls are both voiced by deep voiced black women, and the last one by 

Also, one of these three is literally a mommy.

And also I’m criticizing the writing of the relationship as underdeveloped, possibly for political reasons.
