In my great-grandmother's time, the Compromise of 1877 gave Republicans the election to secure political power for corporations in exchange for the withdrawal of the U.S. military from the South to allow white Democrats to regain control. Thus, 1877 is the year Jim Crow began in the United States. Poll taxes, the grandfather clause, and literacy tests were added to voting requirements to prevent many Black people from being eligible to vote. In addition, lynch mobs organized to terrorize and murder Black people who attempted to go to the polling stations.

My great-grandmother would not want me to vote for a Democrat; because in her time, a Democratic politician wanted to preserve the institution of chattel slavery but lost the war. In her time, Democrats were calling for a redemption of the South from the indignity of being ruled by Negroes and opportunistic damn-yankees.

It's funny that white people get on here and yell at people to learn voting history while not knowing anything about the actual politics of the time. The Democrats were hellbent on genocide 150 years ago. Biden is determined to fund the genocide of Palestinians now. Voting didn't matter in 1877, because the election was intentionally manipulated by politicians to gain a mutually desirable outcome that benefited no one but wealthy white people and maintained nothing besides white supremacy. Biden is enforcing white supremacy now by funding the genocide of the Palestinians and in turn endorsing the genocide of Black people as the IOF trains American police.
