Growing up, older folks would always get confused when I expressed familiarity with media from their childhoods and would act incredulous when I attempted to explain the concept of reruns. They'd be like "How do you, a child of this fallen era, know of Looney Tunes" and I'd be like "Because it has never not been playing on television" and this would seem to be brand new information to them

#the looney tunes example is interesting because the older folks that are still around most likely grew up with reruns #and/or old enough to see looney tunes transition from theaters to television #though growing up i got that a lot when it came to retro music #my folks and teachers would ask me how i knew about pre-90s songs #and i tell them i heard them in [insert late 90s/early 2000s kids movie] 😅#that specific period of kids movies had a lot of 70s/80s music in their soundtracks #especially the dreamworks movies (which makes sense since music record producer david geffen was one of the studio’s founders)

that season finale was ideal for me because i love suffering for an endgame.

like, hell yeah, look on longingly as your crush admits that he likes another girl at the party he invited you to (because he thinks you only see him as a friend). lets goooo, plan a cozy night in (on NEW YEAR'S EVE, a famously kissable holiday) with the girl you have unresolved history and a love/hate relationship with — and then, when you show up late, find her making out with your best friend/roommate (who you know is in love with her) and stand dejectedly in the hallway between your two apartments, clutching the bottle of wine you brought to share with her. letting the last sound we hear before the credits roll be you, closing the apartment door behind you, alone.

Despite how much of a mess All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 is, I’d still take that over The Secret of NIMH 2 any day.
