the idea that men being in any way (on a population-level scale) biologically predisposed to violence makes feminism pointless is honestly so perplexing to me. my dogs evolved to eat shit but i think it’s gross so I get a cat box with high walls or block off the room with the boxes and it’s a total non-issue. they evolved to resource guard but I don’t like when they’re tense with each other so I feed them separately and it’s a total non-issue. The male predisposition to violence may well be entirely socially constructed. But if it’s not, that’s an equally workable scenario. We can’t expect men to change just because we ask them to/“raise them right”/marry a “good” one anyway. To me the most obvious way to construct a reality with less (none would be great but even just less!!!) violence is working to structure as many spaces/organizations/cultures etc so that there are more and more barriers to prevent male violence against women, regardless of whether men stop wanting to hurt women. Removing opportunities to rape, batter, etc is a strategy that protects women regardless of WHY men are like this
