Puck and the Princess
He was shy, to which Tiger Lily couldn’t help but smile wider. She would never admit it aloud, but the small creature was endearing, and seemed rather sweet. She knew from experience that all fairies were not, in fact, sweet, and anyone would be a fool to think otherwise. Still, he didn’t seem to be overly like his brethren. For that, she was grateful. She didn’t much care for the prickly, tempestuous things on the whole, especially when they got enraged at you for picking their wild berries or almost stepping on them. As if she did it purposely…honestly!
She nodded at his invitation, readying her limbs to ascend the tree once more. She could feel the wind moving through her hair, and it was inviting. She half-hoped he would follow her – he was a welcome companion, and she craved different company than her tribespeople. She grew weary of their day-to-day activities. She was eager for some variety.
“I seek nothing except the willow bark beneath my fingers and the sky above my head,” she replied somewhat poetically, a rarity for the girl, but she thought the tiny man might appreciate it all the same. She smiled charmingly at him, her dark lashes fluttering unconsciously against her golden skin. “You are brave, to be about on your own,” she hazarded with confidence.
Puck was not your ordinary fairy, he definitely felt like he had a better control of his emotions, especially since he was able to to control his love for Tinkerbell for so long. He was able to conceal it, and no one knew. He wished people did know, but he was proud of the secret because it didn't encroach on the blond fairy's happiness.
Puck followed her, flitting from leaf to leaf, branch to branch, sometimes he would be completely behind her for a few seconds. It was nice to be able to talk to someone. Puck felt that sometimes the people were so scarce, unless there was an open battle going on. He felt like the hostile enviornment was a reason why Neverland didn't thrive as it once did, the land needed to be explored and watched over by more than just a few groups of inhabitants. But that was his opinion, and he wasn't one to be known to share his opinion.
He listened, "Well that's why you're climbing, right?" he commented. It was a question but it was also a comment. Puck turned a bit pink at the statement, "No not brave," he was not a brave little fairy, quite the opposite in fact. "More curious, adventurous if you will. Sometimes you need to go explore."
