“Hey there,” Harley cooed, her own plight momentarily forgotten. “Where’d you come from, eh? You don’t look like an escapee from the Gotham Zoo….” Where had the feline come from, she wondered. Her love of animals overrode her own pain for a moment, and she forced herself slowly to her feet. “We should find somewhere safer, kitty,” she said. “Maybe Selina will know where you came from…”

Considering lions typically don’t wear any sort of collar at a zoo that’s definitely a good guess. This one does though. A cream colored bit of leather that matches her unusually soft fur. 

The chatter is met with a curious prrt. A sound followed by a concerned little noise at the less than steady stance. This isn’t a handler.. Or a toy.. But she’s hurt like one so.. Who’d hurt her? Worried by that line of thought, Mercy shifts to carefully press her side against a leg. She may not come to much higher than the woman’s knee but it’s at least an attempt to steady the other on those awkward two legs. Hopefully she doesn’t get called home before this one gets to safety. 

Harley tensed slightly as the lion pressed itself against her leg, relaxing as she realized the cat meant to steady her.

Harley flinched at the creature’s yelp, looking up cautiously when no blow came and biting her lip in confusion upon seeing a small, white lioness.

She knew she smelled like blood, and probably her pet hyenas, and so the creature probably was very confused about her scent. Harley struggled to control her pain, reaching one hand out gingerly for the cat to smell.

“Hey, kitty. It’s okay. I’m not gonna hurt’cha.”

The offered hand is studied thoughtfully for a moment. Well, she’s not running or even hiding. Both things only handlers do when she’s around. So..  the cat slinks close enough to touch her nose to the pain curled fingers. A nose that would feel more like the leather of a couch than the slightly damp, warm leathery texture one would expect with a cat or, say, pet hyenas.
