as young crows (viago 17 murat 18) they worked on the same contract together and they became friends there. well, kinda. viago no longer wanted to see murat, and murat on the contrary wanted to bother him more often. they constantly crossed paths in the de riva's main house and even in the city. and over time viago got used to him. perhaps they even drank together sometimes. perhaps murat has some embarrassing stories.

so yeah, rostahm is a pirate nepo baby. gaazir was afraid that her son would grow up spoiled, that she would push him into this piracy thing only because his mother was fucking cool, but it was avoided. he aspires to his mother's prime in terms of abilities, it's unlikely that he will ever reach her peak, but he is good enough already. the only problem is that sometimes rostahm's obsession with gold might fool him, and his mother's afraid it won't do him any good. but their relationship is very warm and tender, yeah she still can hit him hard, but rostahm will never get mad at his mom, they love each other very much. he's trying not to embarrass his mother and himself. and btw he's managed to separate his mother's name from himself, because he's mostly known as rostahm, not as the son of gaazir.

murat probably fell in love with davrin right away, but he didn't know how to show his feelings to a man without it "being gay", so he just... bullied him. he's been ragebaiting him a lot, for stupid reasons, he even stole lucanis's complaints about the wardens cus he just lacked ideas. he flirted with him occasionally but did it fast so the flirt won't stick in their heads. murat often provoked davrin to spar with him, davrin didn't want to, but after murat's "well i didn't expect anything else from the grey wardens," he went right at him with the "listen here you little shi-" ngl davrin liked beating him up cus this is what you get for annoying me that much, and murat liked it cus he could touch him and it won't be gay at all. often, their "definitely not fights just sparrings" were interrupted by very angry and pissed off neve and they had to go to bellara for free healing.
