hi :) umh, i was thinking about tyler when dale gets shot AND

god, his face, hes just trying to process everything, he didnt want any of the desert dreams event to happen, he looks genuinely so scared and worried

and when he kills joyce he's so regretful and having a mental breakdown and clearly he can't show it physically cause yknow he's the big bro and has to be "tough" (i know that this isnt canon but i think its heavily implied that he wasnt able to show his emotions, or at least in a healthy way). ANYWAYS, let me know what you think (only if you want to ofc!)

love love love this read! i absolutely agree, a lot of people say he's merely 'angry' in these scenes -- but that kind of explosive, aggressive reaction is the only way he knows how to express himself. tyler's logical but reactive, and when he sees dale get killed in his place, all he can do is shout before shooting. the whole sequence of events is fast, his brain's rushing to understand the new reality ; he's known dale for what feels like forever, has loved him since he was born, and now in an instant he's ... gone. doesn't help that this is when the holts realize, as a whole, that they can be killed for this crime. up until this point, yes, things have been tense, tyler's taken the situation seriously, but none of them excepted their lives to be so expendable. being killed off for some petty theft they did just for survival. they committed the crime so they wouldn't die, yet here they are fighting again in order to see another day.

we see also in other scenes that tyler is very much responsible for everything his brothers do. it’s not just sharon that puts this on him, it’s bear, too. tries hard to make tyler into a man at the expense of his feelings. if jay messes up on sawing the planks of wood, we get this exchange:

(sidenote tyler makes this face AFTER bear says that. like he was just being normal and then he practically sneers at bear. love this for him personally!)

but then when jay takes the blame and tries to save tyler from bear’s wrath?
