That adhd feel when you have to write a 5 page paper but youāre not actually given a prompt for it, only the book youāre supposed to write the paper on, because the professor wanted us to āwrite something weāre interested in and not have guideline restrictionsā except hello???? I have ADHD but donāt want to have to be ātoo dependentā on medication, so I only take it on days when I plan on driving, taking public transportation, not walking into traffic, using a stove or microwave, maintaining a normal sleep cycle, holding down a job, accomplishing my personal goals, preserving relationships with my friends and familyā¦.
Being a procrastinator with a violent fear of failure is almost hilarious because like 80% of the time Iām likeĀ āIām not even going to think about thisā and then thereās like a distinct moment when everything switches and it turns toĀ āI canāt fail oh my god I need to turn this into an A in like a day why am I like thisā
stop scrolling for a second.Ā
Youāre going to be okay, youāre strong and iām proud of you. Catch your breath and wash your face. Grab something to drink or to eat and remember to take any medications if you need to, okay?Ā
Youāre amazing for making it so far into life; thank you for staying alive.Ā
Now keep goingĀ
having ADHD more like

ADHD Gothic
You have instructions written down. You donāt need them, but you check them anyway. Somehow theyāre different from what you remember. Have they changed since you tucked the paper in your pocket?Ā
You realize that youāve lost your train of thought. You canāt remember what you were thinking before. There is only your present thought, now a loop of panic at your lost memory.Ā
You stop in the middle of a room. Why are you here? Which room did you come from? You leave the room and remember what you were going to do. You walk back into the room. Why are you here?Ā
You bring up an inside joke with a friend. They look at you blankly. They do not remember this joke. But you were there when I made it, you argue. They were not. They are not the friend you are thinking of. You realize it was your other friend, from work instead of high school, with blond hair instead of brown, tall instead of short. You do not know how these two friends are so similar in your mind.Ā
You refer to every experience as happening āthe other day.ā Was it three years ago or yesterday? You try to remember context clues. Time is not real.Ā
Someone asks you for an important piece of information. You have not thought about it since you saved it on your computer, labelled very clearly. You search through your files. It is not there. You find it days later by accident, labelled with a cryptic set of codes. You donāt know why you would label it this way. No one else uses this computer but you.Ā
You are running late. You are always running late.Ā
You have lost something. You check everywhere. You check everywhere again. Someone tells you to think of when you last had it. You donāt tell them that is the problem.Ā
You reach the end of the page. You canāt remember what you just read.Ā
100% accurate
THIS IS TOO FUCKING REAL

How the ADHD brain works
Thereās two options:
1. YAY THIS IS AWESOME I LOVE DOING THIS I COULD DO IT FOR HOURS WITHOUT EVEN BLINKING OR LOSING FOCUS
2. AGH IM SO BORED *starts looking around the whole room until I find something thatās interesting* UGH IM BORED AGAIN
3. THE WHOLE WORLD IS BORING. NOTHING WILL BE INTERESTING AGAIN. I WILL GO TO THE STORE AND BUY COOKIES.
4. HOW CAN YOU BE DOING THE SAME THING FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES WITHOUT GETTING BORED WTF *does something for 2+ hours straight*
people who think that ~everyoneās little ADHD~ are always like āthatās not an ADHD symptom, I did that onceā yeah Karen, ONCE
The big dismissal
There is a stigma Iāve noticed attached to ADD and ADHD. Itās a joke for so many people, dismissing it saying everyone has it. Or saying it is overly diagnosed. Or saying itās an excuse for forgetfulness or restlessness.
Itās not a fucking joke. Not to the people who actually have it.
People like me.
Itās not funny, itās not a joke or excuse.
So stop it. Just stop it. Itās relevant and real and difficult.
Iām not laughing
MENTAL İLLNESS : consuming me
ME : I am such a faker and overreacting
fun adhd things: your brain never shutting up
