Dang, I'm surprised. And, well, here goes...
Imagine this. Youāre a monster from one of the many aus in the multiverse. Maybe youāre about to go pick up some food from the spider bake sale, maybe youāre waiting for a loved one to get home, maybe youāre just on a walk. Whatever it is, you run into someone you know, maybe someone you havenāt seen for some time. Except⦠something is wrong. They look the same. They act the same. They sound the same. But thereās just something different about them today. Yet days turn to weeks turn to months and that feeling of wrongness still remainsā¦.
Essentially, ENTITY was an outcode but make the code part literal. A piece of code, unfinished but sentient yet with no identity of its own. Eventually, over time and through story, in the UTMV Entity would go on to copy the code of existing monsters and just live inside different aus as those stolen identities.
Where did he come from? Well, aside from the void and antivoid and all the other pocket spaces in the UTMV, the whole UTMV sort of has a code thing going on right? Well, thereās gotta be a base workspace somewhere. Think CMD or task manager. Or Cache space. Everything comes from a /Source/ and that is where Entity did.
These are the first drawings I did of Entity when I came up with him in 2018. Itās really old and bad, yeah I know, but that was its ārealā form. Essentially formless thing since it has no body. And technically no gender. If Entity tried to make a body that was truly its own, it would just end up a mess.
However, by Copy and Paste-ing code, or loading up file directories, Entity would basically make a stable body for himself. He started first by replacing an AUs Toriel after the fallen human killed her. Then later, he would go onto living more lives in stead of different monsters. Lowk kinda horror for the residents of the AU because someone you know seems the same but is actually an imposter. Most often, heād take the form of a Frisk or a Sans, the latter since Sans is the most popular monster esp au traveling monster in the UTMV⦠which Entity has no idea why bc the base stats are abysmal and he hates it lol.
Lowk, he was kind of a "villain" too. He was jealous of course of other individuals for having an identity when he doesn't. And would sort of mess up some aus because he'd replace individuals he wasn't supposed to. Like a virus, in a way.
The first two images below: super old design of Entity!sans. The following third is a more recent sketch
Highkey I would redesign him HEAVILY nowadays. This is like nearly a decade old after all. Especially Iād wanna redesign him if I do a UTMV comic, which now I do kinda wanna do (but not alone and after UMSFD tho, ofc)
