I think Adaine and Aelwyn are so compelling but what I find compelling about them is the stuff no one is talking about. I find it really compelling how Aelwyn was the single person Adaine hated most in the world and didn't even blink before sending her to federal prison. I find it compelling that Aelwyn never backed away from the hate, fuelled it even, while being of the honest opinion that her little sister was the best diviner in the entire world. How disguised it was in season one because of Adaine's anxiety disorder and bad socialisation, but she's just as mean and as big of a true bitch as Aelwyn is, but she is still somehow flying under the radar with it. How their character art in season one was almost identical to each other when they clashed the most, but now, per season three, that they've been allowed to grow into their own people they've started to differ drastically in appearances but grown closer in how they behave

it's like they're polar opposites in the exact same way. yin and yang but trauma responses or shit. when they were under their parents' control aelwyn was bitchy and mean and rebellious and morally grey which she's carried with her as mundanity but when she got to flee their control and become her own person she discovered kindness. she adopted the cats at the shelter who'd lived there the longest, she protected her baby sister against their dad, she left an arsenal of spells to protect her ex-boyfriend's house, but it's still in her nature to blackmail the principal for a job and sell drugs to make extra money. adaine on the other hand, under their parents' control she was so much more careful and attentive and pleasing which she's carried with her as mundanity, but when she got to flee their control she discovered attitude. she called a kid with a crush on her a nepo baby, she almost burned her friend's house down, she told a stranger his family line will crumble, but it's still in her nature to not speak against her teachers and throw an ice cream party for her friends

it's like someone hardwired to be selfish discovers acts of kindness makes her feel good and someone hardwired to be selfless discovers it kicks ass to be selfish

so right and true and correct that everyone should always be suspicious of anyone who is mean to gorgug for even a second
