            ‘ WHO  AM  I  TO  DENY  MY  FAVOURITE  IRONED  MAN ? ’   if  he  thought  that  joke  getting  old  would  stop  her  from  making  it,  he’s  clearly  underestimated  her  power.   ‘ of  course  i’m  letting  ya  getcha  hands  on  a  sparrow  -   hell,  you  can  even  have  one  of  mine.  got  loads  of  ‘em  stocked  away.  you’re  gonna  need  it  anyways  for  gettin’  around  —   not  that  there’s  anythin’  wrong  with  your  suit,  but  sometimes  ya  just  gotta  go  fast. ’   a  pause  then,  teeth  worrying  tender  cheeks  as  hesitance  ghosts  across  her  features.  

          TONY  IS  CAPABLE,  perfectly  able  to  take  care  of  himself  in  combat  ( out  of  combat ?  she’d  question  his  capability  if  she  herself  weren’t  so  poor  at  self - care )  but  sparrows  are  meant  as  guardians’  main  mode  of  transport  for  a  reason.  accidents  happen  all  the  time  —   hell,  sol’s  had  her  fair  share  of  them  ( the  intentional  and  unintentional  kind )  but  she’s  a  guardian.   five  seconds  and  she  walks  away  from  the  worst  collisions  without  a  scratch  on  her.  tony,  however,  does  not  share  the  luxury  of  immortality.  

          WHAT  SHE  SAYS :  ‘ JUST…  MAKE  SURE  you’re  wearin’  your  suit  when  you’re  on  one,  yeah ?  whiplash  is  pretty  intense  when  you  gun  it,  an’  these  things  aren’t  really  made  for,  well.  mortals. ’   what  she  means :  your  life  is  precious.  i  don’t  want  to  take  chances  with  it.

     nascent enthusiasm illuminated eager expression,   only  to  be  dimmed  by  that  trailing  warning.  it’s  not  quite  condescending  —  how  the  caution  lingered  &  whirl - pooled  around  that  one  note  of  finality :  ‘ mortal ’  —  but  a  frown  tugged  minutely  on  mouth’s  edge,  teetering  at  a  change  of  mood.  no  matter  how  reputed  the  armor,  it  remained  just  that :  armor.  a  carapace  to  shelter  a  weaker,  more  finite  vessel  beneath,  betraying  the  true  essence  of  the  center  by  nature.

      hands  run  across  the  streamlined  jut  of  metal,  calmness  pervading  through  his  palm  &  settling  a  catalytic  soul.  there’s  a  sureness  to  good  engineering  that  always  soothed  him,  where  &  when  it  really  mattered.  she didn’t mean it that way  —  the  sentiment  rang  pious  &  true  in  him.  god  forbid  anyone  showed  him  an  ounce  of  compassion,  apparently ;  he,  so  disused  to  it  that  his  foremost  reaction  would  be  to  rebel  &  snap  at  it.
