Burne-jones was a theological student in Exeter where he met William Morris, and together they met Rossetti, a painter of Italian origin by his father.  They will form the first nucleus of the Pre-Raphaelite group. This movement favored the emergence of various personalities because the differences in style between these artists are considerable even if they all refer to the same periods of the art of painting, medieval, first renaissance mainly. This group of English artists is called the Pre-Raphaelites.
