does anyone ever think about how appledusk accepting mapleshade's batshit plan about raising and revealing their kits without so much as a shrug was indicative of how much he really cared about them? like obviously he was two-timing mapleshade and he called the kits a mistake and disowned them over their dead bodies but he also didn't attempt to step up and support mapleshade beyond asking one question. i don't love oakheart but he offered his full support to bluefur with several alternatives, protested her plan which would benefit no one, took the kits in at the dead of night during a snowstorm, didn't blame bluefur for mosskit's death at a time when she was extremely emotionally vulnerable, and gently admonished bluefur when he thought she was wrong without calling her a monster or saying he doesn't love her. i find it extremely hard to imagine appledusk doing any of that. just food for thought when people say appledusk was a good dad up until the kits died
