"Yeah but it'd be weird to eat a snake in front of you and Diabound," he pouted, "What if we find a hate and some mice, yeah? There's a guy who owns a bar back at home who will let me have free drinks if I kill mice for him, anyways."
Tasena: Nuzzle nuzzle. "They are there. Hiding. Learn to find animalss you will learn to find humanss. Find a ssmaller ssnake trail. A sspiderss nesst. A Hare'ss warren." He puffed himself up a bit, proud of what he hoped was an idea master would have approved of.
"Well, I don't think I'll be hunting any snakes," he smiled and gave Tasena a small kiss on the head, "You guys are just too cute and powerful to do that! But I bet a hare would taste so good if we cook it right!"

Tasena: "Very fair." He hissed and bumped his round snout into Bakurah's cheek. "You should hunt."
He lifted a hand to rub said snout gently till it moved to just pet his scales along his head. "Hunt? Maybe... It's easier to just make a trap to catch something or steal enough money to buy food. There's not really a lot of easy animals to snag in the desert."
Tasena: Slithers up to his shoulder and licks his ear.
Gives a laugh and squirms, "That tickles! No fair, snakes can't get tickled." He gave a slight pout but still kept a giddy look in his eyes.
Bakurah?
"Thief! Hello! Was I gone for a bit? I try being fast but sometimes my magic can get weird when it comes to going back and forth..."
Good morning Bakurah. You want some breakfast?
Yawns and sleepily puts is head on the table, âG'mornin⌠Why does Ra have to be up so early? â looked up at him briefly, âYes, pleaseâŚâ
âYou look warm! Okay. Off to the market then.â He offered his hand. Bakurah was a big kid, but⌠just to be safe?
He glanced at the hand and took it, just enjoying his company. âWhat do you wanna steal at the market?â He decided to ask with a curious grin.
âIâm not sure⌠There arenât a lot of candies I like. Maybe some fruit?â
"Really? Hmm... Fruits can still be eaten for snack! Do you like grapes? The ones at home taste better than the ones here but it's still good! I like apples more, though," he hummed as he thought out loud.
"Bakurah. Come to me now."
He felt that sharp tug on his shard and moved quickly to his side. âYes? You requested for me to see you?â
He moved with him, knowing heâd be in awe of the city. While Tasena looked at the people, Bakurah looked towards suspicious thieves. He decided heâd know what to look out for better than Tasena would be on their first day.
âYeah, we can snag small food really easily like apples or small bread,â he answered him, âCome on, letâs head to the market. This city is huge and youâre going to get lost if you stare too long at it. Enjoy the sights but keep moving unless you wanna get knocked over by the crowds.â
He pulled him down into one of the back streets thatâd lead them to the main market street. There he could at least snag food off carts far easily.
âUnderstood.â He muttered vaguely. It was understood despite the dreamy tone, and he sped up his pace to something far more reasonable. With a shake of his head, pale hair whipping about his face and hood he shook the reverie from himself. He had a lifetime now to appreciate this, he couldnât spend his whole first day gawking. âThis is better than I imagined.â Even though he hadnât had enough experience to be able to imagine anything.
âRight. The markets. This way?â He followed Bakura, using the advantage of his much longer legs to get ahead of them so it didnât look like the adult was being led by the child. The market was splayed before them, welcoming yet intimidating with sharp eyed and sharper tongued shopkeeps. Stalls and shops of wares all over, loud hustle and bustle of a crowd shaking the air.Â
He was far more prepared this time. Though he kept a firm hold on Bakurahâs hand he walked taller, and looked around smarter. Occasionally he whispered a word as the sight brought the names into his mind for the first time and he took the time to enjoy speaking some of the funner ones. Yet no smile split his stoic face, this was working time.
He let him take the lead and stayed close behind him. Itâd make it easier to manuver through the crowds and snag some food. He looked at what was up for market food wise and spotted a fruit cart down the way. He noticed some fish and meat stands but those were too hard to steal from, theyâd have to just stick to the fruits for now it seemed.Â
He decided to switch to Japanese, assuming Tasena knew as much as he did as he spoke lowly, âThe fruit that way... I can steal while we walk. They will look at you since you are adult. I can do it quick if we do not stop.â

He felt a small blush of embarrassment as Tasena said he liked his eyes, skin, and hair. He couldnât think of last time he got a compliment for his looks considering he was mostly a scrappy brat to most with a big ugly scar on his face.
âOk, well, then weâll see if we can steal something in those colors. I like red, too, and gold! Red is powerful and makes people scared because it reminds us of blood. Red is luxurious as its a color for a King!â He decided to compose himself in pride, âGold shows the color of money and wealth! It makes you look higher than others in stance and keeps you prideful!â
âDressssed in the blood you will sspill from your enemiess.â He hissed cheerfully. It seemed like something suitable dark and scary for Master to say, therefore good enough for him. âYou should have red. I will have colourss that match. We should be ssimilar.â Tasena maut tried hopefully. He swayed his tail and nodded. âI should take human shape otherwisse the clothess will not fit. I should do my hair too. When I am to sstay like that for a long time.â
âBlack matches red in a scary way,â he mused, âBlack and red, evil and bloody!âÂ
âHow are you going to do your hair? It looks really long so you may need to put it up behind your or something! My hair is too short to do anything with,â he shrugged, âYou can even put gold in your hair! I wanna do that some time but itâs hard to steal that kind of stuff easily.â

Comes down from the vents to give him a small wave before approaching his desk, "Boss! Let's play!" Glances at one of the tall stacks of paper on his desk and curiously tries to pick up a small stack with one hand till all the papers fall out of his hand and onto the floor.
His expression was caught somewhere between a silent scream and absolute fury. It eventually settled into a business-ready poker face.
âThose,â he said in a low whisper, âwere organized in a very specific way.â
âOh! Godling!â He instantly beamed up at the mention of him, ignoring the warning look, âHeâs my God! Heâs very nice and helpful! I can talk to him for you! Heâs good at help! I promise!â
Ryou jockeyed him away from the desk with his body. âAbsolutely not. Iâm not even going to touch that âGodâ talk - but I donât want to associate with him unless I have no other choice. He wonât do anything for me anyway. Heâs that monsterâs staunchest defender!â
âDid you⌠anger him or some-thing? Heâs good but you have problem with him.. What happened?â he decided to prod a bit curiously, not really understanding the other wanting to avoid the âgodâ talk.Â
Ugh. The last thing he wanted was to talk about his personal affairs with a spirit-copy, even if he was a kid. Sort-of spirit copy. Pre-spirit copy. On the other hand, the kid could be a treasure trove of information if he played his cards right. It might - might - be worth it. Barely.
âI didnât do anything. The spirit asked for his help to track m - the, uh, person that cursed me, down. I certainly didnât. Apparently theyâre friends or something. Or were friends, anyway. They didnât seem very happy with each other when we parted ways.â
âOh âŚâ He thought it out a bit, âWas he a face like my Godâs? My God likes people with his face. That may be a problem⌠Can you copy his face then?â
âYes,â he said sharply. âThey both have the same face because theyâre face-stealers. I donât need to copy their face because itâs my face theyâve warped and are wearing like itâs their own!â
âItâs your face? But I thought it was his face. How do they steal a face? I canât do that!â He huffed, picturing in his head everyone changing faces like masks. If he was going to be a king of thieves, he figured he ought to know how to steal a face.
âYou really donât know anything about any of them, do you?â Ryou grasped the kid by the shoulders and steered him back to the couch because apparently he couldnât take a hint. âIâm not talking about it.â
He pouted as he was steered away, huffing loudly in protest. "I know what they tell me! I'm trying to help! You look mad and mad isn't good on you!"
He made a loud huff, switching to his native language to curse under his breath, "Man, why does Cagey have to work for such a dick? I am trying to fucking help...!"
He watched the food spill out and Bakura take up the bread. He wasnât the biggest fan of watching him eat. He was a bit hungry⌠He figured that this guy really shouldnât have a reason to poison him. If he could afford this much food on his own then he wasnât out for money and he hadnât stolen off him yet so it couldnât be spite. He gripped his spear tightly as he approached him closer to pick up a small roll for himself to munch on.
âWhere did you get all of this from? Some of it looks freshâŚâ He asked briefly, curious of where someone like him could ever get this much food.
Taking another bite, Bakura flicked his gaze at the child, holding it for a moment, before deliberately shutting his eyes and taking another bite. âStole it,â he answered with his mouth full. Bakura swallowed with a shrug, âSâprobably mostly made today.â
That had been an interesting theft, in that it had been uncommonly dull. Between the ring, and the fearlessness of not believing this place was real, the theft had been easy, ambitious - above-all - successful.
âIf thatâs an issue for you, I can eat it,â he drawled as an afterthought.
He nodded and took a bite into the bread, choosing to sit in the sand to force himself to relax. He wasnât here to kill him, it seemed, so he had to calm down. He felt defensive but just kept himself careful.
âWell⌠Thank you,â he forced out, figuring it was the right thing to say, âIs there something you want other than to give me food? This canât be just a gift for free.â

He nodded, happily letting him wrap himself around his shoulders. He thought of a clothing store that was easier to steal from and grabbed his backpack, figuring this bag would be far easier to fit in with. It was really only filled with a blanket and some action figure he stole just incase he was questioned.
âWell what color do you like? I can find something you will for sure like!â He asked as he walked along.
âHmmm.â The shadow pondered the questions he had never before considered. What colors did he like? He certainly did like colors, they were bright and made the world exciting. Though they were also very Light, which Master didnât like so he ought not to either.Â
âI like Masster.â He ventured. âMassterâs red eyess, hiss blue sscarf.â He titled his head to think of more, tail swishing idly against Bakuraâs shoulder. âI like the ssand, gold. I like the jewelry you ssteal, ssilver. I like your sskin, brown. Your eyess, purple. I like our hair, white.â

As eager as he was he wanted to do well this time unlike before. He tugged his hood down, red eyes piercing out at the city. âI will protect you.â He promised. Even with so few and so small bodies at his disposal.
He gave him a reassuring nod, moving to hold his hand to help. He noticed him slow a bit and gave him a grin.
âDonât worry, today should be like any other day in there. Plus weâre at a city that has a bit more money so the people shouldnât be too crude in their actions. Youâll do good, I promise,â he nodded to him.
âWhat should we look for while weâre in there? A necklace?â He led him to the entrance of the city, hoping if he talked to him, itâd keep his nerves calm while a lot of people surround them quickly. This was where all the money funneled into, of course a lot of people would want in on the wealth.
âIâm not worried.â He mumbled defensively, holding Bakurahâs hand tightly in his large one. âIâm being cautious. We shouldnât make any more mistakes. Master said I should stay out of notice.â
As they entered the city it was as though theyâd entered a chamber of noise and hot, pungently perfumed bodies. He scowled and stuck a little closer to Bakurah protectively. âNo. We should look into more necessary things for you. I need to know what to keep an eye out for. Food? I know what necklaces look like now.â The talking to distract seemed to work, and his eyes slid over other humans as thought they were simply scenery. There were stalls all around. People bustling everywhere carrying loads of recently bought or about to be sold goods.Â
He ducked his head to hide better under his hood and from that hidden vantage point looked around in awe at the first real city heâd seen. He walked even slowly, accidentally tugging on Bakurahâs hand. It was so much to take in, almost too much for his new brain to process.
