He doesn't give a shit about preserving human life. He's literally only vegetarian because he's supporting Rosalie. He goes out of his way to not kill humans on a daily basis but at the times when he did kill someone, he was just like, "Well I am a vampire so.... *shrugs*" He doesn't sit on a moral high horse and claim he's one of the good guys. He is an unapologetic vampire and he owns it.

The things is, it’s not like that. It’s really, really not.

Dopamine’s a little bit like glucose (sugar, required for your body to generate energy); a substance that is 100% genuinely essential to having a fully-functioning properly working brain and body, to the point that it feels good when you get more of it because you’re filling a need, to the point that yeah, you can get addicted to it.

But if you’re glucose deficient, that’s hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), where your cells don’t have the energy to keep running because there’s no fuel.  AKA a major issue.

If you’re dopamine deficient… well, just go look up the symptoms of ADHD. All of them, not just the inattentiveness ones. ADHD can and does fuck up your life severely, on multiple levels, because ADHD brains are chronically lacking in a compound necessary for basic function.

Yeah, like anything, you can have too much dopamine. But that’s literally the opposite of the problem here.

A stunning visual representation of how it feels to try and give your heart to someone only to have it ripped straight out of your chest, instead. To fall so deeply, so quickly, for a person so perfectly crafted for you, you’d swear they weren’t real, only to be gobsmacked when it all comes crumbling down and you realize they were nothing like they claimed to be. When you think you know someone but you’ve only seen the parts they want you to see, only to realize when they finally let their guard down, you don’t like what’s staring back at you.

To hold on so tightly to what you thought was, you push away reality with all your might until it finally takes you down. To be the one fighting for something even when it doesn’t exist, to know you’re toyed with, chastised, and lied to  only to still somehow end up being the one on your knees, hoping it won’t end.

How easy it is to feel trapped by your own feelings no matter how valid the are, by a casually cruel and overly confident self indulgent man who doesn’t know what he has and has a twistedly talented way of making you feel like you’re crazy, even when you know you’re perfectly sane. 

It’s shot with such finesse, such nuanced intention. Sink and O’Brien bring the characters to life in such hauntingly lifelike ways you feel like you’ve walked in on an intimate moment you aren’t supposed to be a part of. Their chemistry pulls you through the screen even when you know it should only put you off and even as a bystander, you find yourself fighting to hate someone who should be so easily hatable. It’s phenomenal and everything I could have wanted, a true piece of storytelling, something you’re always looking for with “music videos.” When artists let their videos BE visually representative of the story their telling, it’s always more satisfying. And I am completely satiated. 

Taylor Swift is a true genius and as i’ve said to many times before, her work continues to feel like she somehow found my diary full of my inner most thoughts and personal experiences in love, life and loss and translated them into melody – and now into film. 

I can’t wait to dive back in when i’ve sat with it a little longer and can really take a step back from how it touched me personally and be able to pick up on all the easter eggs I know are there, all the small things i’m missing because i’m too busy going down my own memory road, and of course, soak in all the happier moments that equate to all the daydreams i’ve had about Dylan O’Brien in my life. I’m self inserting here, and I don’t regret a thing. 

I knew since her first season of Stranger Things Sadie Sink would be a star and to see her in something that really pushes her to potentially feel things she maybe hasn’t even gotten to experience yet that diverges completely from her usual genre just proves that point. She brought Her to life perfectly, for all of us that have been Her, one time or another. 

And of course, O’Brien takes Him to the perfect places – which is most impressive because he undoubtably is not the person he’s portraying, yet he’s someone able to touch into those toxic traits and leave anyone whose dated someone like Him with a visceral reaction. Even the way he speaks, the words he chooses, the infections in his voice, the looks with all the right timing, the sweetness to cover up all the sour.

its so so heartbreaking to think that what was shown in film is what taylor went through. like i now understand even more properly why jake was someone she really couldn’t get over or why it was hard to get out of that relationship?? because he was the worst guy ever and then the sweetest next. it was so toxic. he’d fight with her and then say and do nice things so she wouldn’t be mad anymore. taylor probably thought he was really sorry about what he said and thats why all nice stuff. again hurts to think of that.
