currently i post a LOT about jax. THIS IS A PRO-JAX AND TRANSFEM LESBIAN JAX SPACE!!! i use both he/him and she/her pronouns for her but it mostly is dependent on when and what context i’m referring to her.

i started my fanfic today!! i have absolutely no idea when i will have the first chapter up but i think it’s possible by the end of the week!

i’m not entirely sure where this fic will go, but my main goal is to construct a happy ending where jax can grow and be herself and live happily ever after with her wonderful wife pomni while also navigating life with the messiest lesbian polycule of all time. i’m thinking lots of both angst and fluff.

lots of mutual pining, pomni having anger issues, jax being soft for pomni, codependent and clingy funnybunny, jax going through her amazing digital transition, interpersonal drama with the whole squad, etc etc you get the point. AND MORE TO COME!!!

i accept goose’s statement as a canon hypothetical that they would become friends again but would need a lot of time.

my unpopular opinion that i have to disclose to answer this question is that they both have apologizing to do for their friendship to blossom again, even tho the heavier burden would be ribbit forgiving jax/jax making amends with ribbit. the pivotal scene in ribbit’s room to me reads somewhat as floodlighting/manufactured intimacy with the intention of ribbit confirming her suspicion that jax is trans fem. she asks him a very personal question out of no where, and then symbolically acknowledges that she knows he’s a closeted trans woman. i am not trans, but i know that even tho being seen for who you are is lovely (pun not initially intended lol), it can also be existentially horrifying and scary WHEN YOU ARE CLOSETED AND NOT READY TO COME OUT! it’s the same reason people say not respond with “oh well i always knew you were gay/trans/etc.” especially as an abused closeted trans woman, that situation can be scary and confusing asf. it makes sense to me that she snapped and told ribbit to forget about it, BECAUSE SHE WASN’T READY. and ribbit should have respected that.

i don’t think that jax should’ve brushed her off with no explanation or communication of her feelings after that, but it does make more sense to me than what people give him credit for. and i also don’t concede to the narrative that jax “caused her abstraction/suicide” since 1) i don’t believe abstraction is a 1:1 to suicide 2) with few exceptions i generally don’t philosophically agree with th idea of someone causing another’s suicide since i believe in personal responsibility 3) to that point, i don’t see enough evidence to suggest that jax deliberately and maliciously isolated ribbit from everyone but rather just protecting her closeted status.

ANYWAYS, i would presume that jax de-abstracts first, following then by kaufmo, queenie, and then ribbit. i feel like once ribbit de-abstracts her and jax would mutually steal clear of each other. jax at this point being changed would understand that ribbit needs space not only to heal but to acclimate herself to the state of the circus. then when she feels comfortable they would have a lot of long talks talking about their mushy feelings, have some tense and difficult conversations, maybe even a few fights, but eventually they would become friends again.

i wanted to get some other people’s thoughts about the relationship between jax and gangle and what a future would look like for them? as they have one of the most intense and controversial dynamics of the series.

i want to stay true to the canon and especially to realistic characterization. i love jax and i love funnybunny and i want jax to live a happy digital life with her digital wife, but realistically that would probably mean jax making amends with gangle? or else things would all around be pretty tense and awkward lol.

so i guess my question for the class is, do you think gangle could forgive jax, and what would that look like? would she embrace friendship or not wanna be associated with her? and i guess in relation to that, is pomni’s love and care for jax IN CANON a problem for her care and friendship with gangle? pomni visiting abstracted jax (which she also does in-canon) and helping her de-abstract, eventually bringing her back, how would that affect gangle? is she a bad friend for caring her bully?

the canon of the show promotes inclusion in the end, with jax being in the mural EVERYONE is working on and pomni shown still visiting her. but i see so much vitriolic sentiments about jax and particularly her relationship with gangle that my thoughts are muddied.
