so some people insists that the scouts would have been starving, but that’s just not feasible. muscles are the first to go when you’re starving. And the work they do requires an insane amount of core strength, and arm strength for actually wielding the swords right and leg strength for steering, et.c. if they were starving, they’d be too weak to do their thing!! PLUS, we see starving people during the uprising, so its not like the series just doesn’t wanna show starving people. they might not be eating lavishly, but they’re getting at least the bare minimum to keep them functional and capable. Plus, if you can afford to buy meat before a mission, when meat has become a luxury, then the food budget can’t be scraps. plus, the society of the walls is highly militaristic, meaning they would likely prioritize their army getting rations and staying strong. And they wouldn’t be able to just shaft the scouts out of the equation outrigut. that’d look suspicious and sabotage-y, especially when people are looking to the scouts as the only ones who might have a slim chance to be able to get back wall Maria. People would become even more desperate without that little bit of hope keeping them complacent. So since theres enough food to keep a mere merchant rotund AF, then i can assure you they’d feed their military, every branch, enough to keep them strong.
