At the same time, the same site, in the cosplay section most of the products are the white version!

Then, in the anime, in the very same frame

BOTH VERSIONS- on Levi's back there's blue, and white on both Levi's arm (and maybe Eren's breast but that might be wrong, its too small to see).

Both are simplified for a matter of size but left looks white and the right, because the triangle is much chunkier (and it looks purposeful) seems to be blue.

Maybe it was originally supposed to be white, like you said. Most panels I found from the manga seem to be the white one. But since then the blue has kind of taken over.
