big fan of that trope in fantasy where species A just straight up does not have a physical trait that’s common among species B, so the species A character is just completely enamored with the way the species B character looks
like. for example, let’s say fae don’t have freckles. it’s just not something that exists in their species. so when a faerie meets a faun who has a beautiful freckled face and freckled shoulders and freckles all over the faerie is just completely entranced and mystified.

A little raven haired girl sat in her mother's lap, sitting safely by the glowing hearth as nature rages outside, thunder roaring like a wild beast and lighting cracking like celestial whips.
"Mamma?" The little girl asks, looking up at her mother's warm eyes.
"Yes?"
"Why do you always talk to the stars?"
"Because they listen."
"What does that mean?"
The mother sighs wistfully, gazing into the fire, her mind momentarily far away. "Well," she begins, "we all have a star just for us, that listens when we talk. When we wish on that star, the star goes to the fates to speak on our behalf. Sometimes the fates grant us a blessing, and sometimes they do not."
The young girl's eyes light up with delight. "Do I have a star?"
The mother smiles. "Of course."
"Can I tell my star my wish?"
"Only when the sky is clear. Stars can't hear us when nature cries. You have to wait until your message can safely reach the heavens."
The girl nods, looking out the window at the storm. "Okay."
"Just remember to never stop working for your dreams." The mother says, gently stroking her daughters hair. "You're capable of beautiful things, my darling."
...
"Dearest star of mine
Plead with the fates divine
Let destiny change her mind
Let me love my darling, mine"

Hey guys... I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from writing and updating. Any requests that I've gotten will be put on hold and I will do my best to get them done sometime in the future, I just don't know when.
Something's happened in my personal life and I need to take a break to process it. I'm very sorry, but I promise to try and be back on track as soon as possible.
I'm going to try to get back to writing and everything. Might be a little slow for now, but I hope to get to a point where I'm posting at least every week.
Rip out my bones
Peel off my skin
Give me a body I'm comfortable in
Blood on the stones
Stuck in my head
Letting my thoughts just tear me to shreds
Who's that in the mirror?
I don't know them
We're not friends, but I can pretend
I'm feeling inferior
Less than you
Wonder if what they say is true

Welcome Home ~ Butcher Wally Darling AU Oneshot
This fic was requested by ZillyKittyXD on Wattpad.
((let's just pretend it didn't take me 3 months to actually start writing this...))
TW: A bit of yandere behaviour from Wally. Mentions of blood, knives, and the implied murder of another character. Character uses they/them pronouns (some people are triggered by this?).
Wally hadn't known what the strange feeling was. It was almost like that feeling he got when he killed, only... It was different. It was... Warmer. He only felt it when you were with him, or when you were on his mind. And with this feeling came want. And he'd never wanted like he wanted with you.
He wasn't supposed to want you. He knew that. But that knowledge didn't stop the feeling he always got around you. It didn't stop the wanting. In fact, knowing that only fueled the feeling. Especially now that you seemed to be in the habit of visiting his shop every day. The more Wally saw of you, the more he experienced that feeling. The more intense the want became.
Each glimpse of you sent him through a rush. Sometimes it was a good feeling, and sometimes it made him sick. But either way, it always left him wanting to experience it again. To see you and feel that lightness in the head. He liked to tell himself that his desire to be with was only to identify this... odd, feeling he felt. Or maybe even to make you his next victim. He liked to ignore the little you-shaped hole you'd dug out in his heart and made yourself at home in.
It wasn't until that day you walked in with Howdy's scent on you and a basket of suspiciously discounted apples that he finally acknowledged it.
You were supposed to belong to Wally, but that grub couldn't seem to keep his nose in his own business...
Y/n walks into Wally's shop, the air tainted with the coppery smell of blood. They place a basket of apples on the counter (half of them Howdy had given them for free) and tap the rusty little service bell. They wonder why Wally even put it there in the first place. He seems to always know the moment someone enters, and the dainty little bell looks rather out of place in a butchers shop.
Wally walks into view, wiping a dirty knife off on his equally dirty apron. He must have just finished cutting up some meat to sell. Y/n smiles at him as he looks up. His expression darkens ever so slightly when he sees the basket of discounted apples Howdy had given you.
Y/n smiles. "Hey, Wally! I brought you apples!"
Wally stares at the basket, part of him wondering if they were doing this to purposefully mess with him. But they couldn't possibly know how they affected him... Could they? "Thank you.. Neighbour." He says slowly, his gaze shifting from the apples to them. "You... Smell like Howdy."
He didn't like the way Y/n blushed when he said that.
"Oh! Well, we hugged before I left to come here..."
"I see..." Wally mumbles before resuming a casual attitude, giving no hint to the macabre plan already forming in his mind.
Y/n gave Wally half the apples, and after receiving their thanks, were on their way back home, humming a jovial tune to themselves.
-- Time Skip --
A few days later Y/n visits his shop again, seeming to be lost in thought when they come in. They went to visit Howdy the other day, but he was nowhere to be found. They tried again today, but no one had even seen him.
"What's the matter, Neighbour?" Wally asks, false innocence lining his tone.
"I just... Haven't seen Howdy around lately. I'm starting to get worried."
Wally's smile tightens. "Oh, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. He'll turn up." He pauses, tilting his head. "Is that the only reason you came to visit today?"
Y/n smiles. "Oh, no. I enjoy visiting you simply for the company, but I thought I'd ask you just in case you saw him."
Wally hums in response, busying himself with a bloody knife.
Y/n stares at the knife in his hands, noting the fresh blood covering it. "What kind of meat did you get in today?"
Wally chuckles. "Oh, I have a very special stock today... I cannot give you the details though."
"At least tell me what kind of meat it is?" Y/n asks, pouting.
"Oh... One you're quite familiar with." Wally replies with a smirk.
"Pork?"
"Hah... Close enough."
The fact that Howdy had ever dared to steal his little Y/n was enough for Wally to consider him swine. Not that he thought much of him before that.
A/N: Yay! Finally finished. What do y'all think? Part two?

Here's the second version of my writing assignment! In this version, Billy has a sister instead of a brother.
Content Warning: The decapitation of a child and implied massacre.
...even I begin to wonder what the hell goes on inside my brain...
It was early one Christmas morning, the two Walker children rushing down the stairs, their parents groggily trudging in behind them. Mr. Walker nods at his kids, giving them the okay to begin tearing into their presents. Mrs. Walker takes a special gift from the mantle, handing it to her children.
They open the box, both gasping in awe as they stare at what’s inside. A brand-new AT-13 drone with advanced AI. The thing Billy and his sister had begged their parents to get them for weeks but were told that it was too expensive.
"We managed to grab this one on a major discount." Mr. Walker explains, chuckling lightly at their reactions.
Billy and his sister jump up, quickly thanking their parents and then rushing outside to test the new toy.
The first thing Billy does is test how high he could fly it, but after a few minutes of playing with it, the drone began to act strangely. It began jerking in random directions when Billy tried the controller, and then it stopped responding altogether. The drone went after a few bypassing birds, bumping one and seemingly killing another. Eventually it ceased its attack on the birds, now focusing on the two children who were responsible for setting it free.
Billy's confusion quickly turns to a cold terror as the drone flies toward him and his sister at an alarming speed. Billy ducks for cover at the last minute, bracing himself for the impact of the drone... But it doesn’t happen. Instead, he hears an odd sound, glancing up in time to watch his sister’s headless body fall to the ground. The drone and her decapitated head lay only a few feet away, blood painting the snow red.
Billy lets out a dreadful scream, getting his parents’ attention and causing them to come rushing outside. They freeze, staring in horror at the scene before them. The drone buzzes, its now loose blades flopping as it seems to try and dislodge itself from the snow.
That day, the Walker family, and the rest of the city (or at least, those who remained), learned to never buy discounted AI. The price is cut for a reason. In this case, the reason is an AI with a taste for blood.
Finally got to the fun part of my writing class and wrote a short story based loosely on a few pictures. Teacher said I wouldn't get points knocked off for morbidity, so I've got a few ideas >:)... But this is the first version. Enjoy!
One early morning, nine-year-old Billy Walker goes downstairs to find a temptingly wrapped gift sitting on the table. Mr. and Mrs. Walker trail behind their son, along with Billy’s brother and dog. They all pause when they spot the wrapped box sitting on the table. Billy is overjoyed when he finds the box to be addressed to him, but his parents are wary of the “gift” that suddenly appeared on their table overnight. Begrudgingly, Billy’s parents permit him to open the box. Inside, he finds a sleek, expensive-looking drone with a high-definition camera and advanced range. Billy exclaims in excitement while his brother whines about how he wanted one as well.
Billy rushes outside with his new toy, eager to test it. Knowing that Billy has a reputation for being a dreadful pilot, his family stays inside, watching from the window. Billy attempts to make his drone do a number of tricks – barrel rolls, flips, dodging birds, and spooking the neighborhood pets. Billy’s family grows increasingly anxious as they watch the drone get farther away, moving erratically. Suddenly, the drone freezes, hovering ominously as its lights blink red and the controller in Billy’s hands freezes up.
The drone rotates slowly, scanning over the neighbourhood before zeroing in on the Walker family. Billy and his brother freeze in terror, while a panicked expression momentarily flashes across their parents’ faces. They realize that the drone was planted in their home as a weapon. Snapping out of his daze, Billy runs for cover in his backyard playhouse as the drone fires upon his beloved home. His family seeks cover inside the house, but they fail to realize the fatal consequences of their decision in time before a missile is fired from the drone, igniting the house and destroying it in minutes.
The drone self-destructs, and after the dust clears, Billy emerges slowly from his hiding place. Sirens could be heard in the distance. Because of the sudden and tragic nature of the situation, the young boy was too shaken to even know how to react to the sudden calamity that had just occurred. The drone’s video monitor lay in the grass, cracked but still operational. A message blinked across the screen in big blue letters: “AGENTS HAL & SUE WALKER – ELIMINATED.”
Sorry if this isn't all that good. It's been a while since I've written. ADHD paralysis in real, and it's a horrible pain in the ass. I've gone at least four months without making any real progress on anything. I'm kind of proud though, because today I suffered through a mild mental breakdown during my classes, but still managed to write something like this. Progress!
Backstory: Y/n L/n used to be a teacher at UA. They taught for 3 years, until they retired because of family matters and eventually moved away from Musutafu altogether.
During their time at UA, they got along well with the students and their fellow teachers. Aizawa especially. The grumpy, sleep-deprived hero would often call on Y/n when he found himself unable to rest at night, and they'd spend most of their time chatting and being with each other.
Everyone was sad to see Y/n go, but after about a month of her absence, things inevitably had to go back to their normal way. Aizawa wasn't so quick to recover, though. He seemed to sleep even less than usual and became more irritable.
But about two years later, news spread across UA that Y/n had returned.
Current Time:
Y/n opens a window in their apartment, taking a break from unpacking the boxes that were scattered about the living room.
"I've missed this place..." They whisper, taking a deep breath of the fresh air.
An unexpected knock at the door startles them.
"Just a minute!" They shout, shutting the window and coming to the door, opening it to reveal a familiar face. "Mic!"
The blonde breaks into a grin. "Y/n!" He pulls them into a tight hug.
"I've missed you so much..." Y/n mumbles into his shoulder.
"Yeah, imagine how the rest of us feel." Mic chuckles as Y/n pulls out of his embrace.
"How is everybody anyway?" They ask, eyes bright with excitement from seeing their old friend after so long. "And Shota?"
"Aizawa is gonna be over the moon to see you, and the rest will probably feel the same. I'd heard you moved back, but I had to come see for myself!"
"But how'd you get my address?" Y/n asks, tilting their head to the side in confusion.
Hizashi smirks. "I have my ways."
"You always do." Y/n chuckles.
He looks over Y/n's shoulder and into the messy apartment. "You finished unpacking? 'Cause I was really hoping you'd be up for a little reunion with some of the others."
Y/n looks back at the boxes and sighs. "Y'know, I think a break from these boxes would do me some good."
Hizashi grins wider. "Great!" He takes them by the hand and leads them out of the apartment.
~ Time Skip ~
The time Y/n spent catching up with their friends was the best they'd had since moving away, but there was an undeniable tension between them and Aizawa, though no one seemed to acknowledge it.
"It's getting late." Y/n says. "I'd better get back and finish unpacking."
"Just one more question," Nemuri interjects. "Are you going to teach at UA again?"
"Honestly, I'm not sure. But I am considering it."
Happy cheers go up through the group at the prospect of Y/n returning to UA.
"Who's going to take Y/n home?" Hizashi asks. "I mean, I drove them here, but I've gotta get back home pretty quick."
"Well, Aizawa was the one who used to drive Y/n places." Toshi offers.
"Yeah! Aizawa can take them home." Hizashi agrees enthusiastically.
"I mean, if he doesn't mind..." Y/n says, looking tentatively at the man in question.
Aizawa shrugs. "I don't see why not." He mumbles.
Hizashi claps the man on the back. "It's settled then! I'll see y'all tomorrow!"
And with that, the heroes went their separate ways, leaving Aizawa and Y/n by themselves.
"It was nice seeing you again, Shota..." Y/n tries, hoping to dissolve the tension and make some conversation. Aizawa was pretty silent the whole time, only voicing his opinion here and there.
"Why did you have to leave?" He responds finally.
Y/n is taken aback by the question. "What do you mean?" They ask quietly.
His eyes meet theirs. "You left me, Y/n."
"I had valid reasons!" They defend.
"You didn't even tell me goodbye. You told everyone you were going to leave to help your family, and then disappeared without another word."
Y/n looks away, an expression of shame cast across their face. "I didn't want to leave, Aizawa."
He stares at her in silence.
"I left to protect our reputations! I left because... I couldn't stay..."
"And why couldn't you stay, Y/n? What the hell do you think you were protecting?"
"You mean everything to me..." Y/n chokes up, looking at their feet with tear-filled eyes. "As more than a friend. But...I was afraid..."
More tears fill Y/n's eyes as the only response they receive is silence. And if they were being honest with themselves, the silence was worse than any rejection.
"I'm sorry..." They finally say.
"Y/n..." A gentle hand raises her chin, making her look Aizawa in the eye. "You're stupid." He says bluntly, and then he kisses them.
Y/n's eyes widen in shock and Aizawa pulls away. He starts to say something but then Y/n cuts him off, pulling him into another kiss.
"I've missed you so damn much..." Y/n whisper when they break the kiss.
Aizawa chuckles. "Apparently."
~ The End ~
A/N:
This is not my best work, and it's my first time writing a gender neutral reader, but I hope you enjoyed. I promise to produce some better oneshots in the future. Don't give up on me now.
Thank you! <3
