Ciara McElveen, transgender woman, killed in New Orleans

Ciara McElveen, a black transgender woman, was stabbed to death in New Orleans on Monday. The New Orleans Police Department found McElveen in New Orleans’ 7th ward, according to the Times-Picayune. 

According to a press release from the NOPD, she was transported to University Medical Center, where she died.

Her death comes only two days after news of the killing of Chyna Doll Dupree, another black transgender woman, in New Orleans.

Though this shouldn’t have to be the case, teaching their children to deal with the police is often a lesson that Black parents have to instill in their children at an early age. A heartbreaking new video released on Monday shows just what those conversations can look like.

Mic decided to investigate these claims for themselves and see if this alleged former Trumpian was telling the truth. They set up a $1 recurring donation to the Trump Campaign, and when they tried to cancel it, Mic confirmed that there was no cancelation option.

Not only that, but you could not edit or remove your credit card information on the website.

Mic concluded that the way to stop donating is to call your bank and cancel your credit card. If not, you will be donating to Trump forever.

To be fair, Mic also set up recurring $1 donations to Clinton’s campaign to see if they too tried to trap you into an eternity of donating. Mic noted that it was very simple to cancel donations on Clinton’s website.

20-year-old young Black woman Megan Williams was held at a remote house in Big Creek and was tortured, sexually assaulted, and beaten for days before being discovered by the police. Once an assailant cut the victim’s ankle with a knife, calling her the n-word and confessing that she was kidnapped because of her skin color.

“They just kept saying ‘This is what we do to niggers down here,‘” Williams told The Associated Press.

However, six white people were charged with everything but the hate crime.

This brave woman hopes to attend college one day to become a nurse. 

This case deserves national attention and an outrage.

Andrew Colom, 33, and David Alade, 29, ditched jobs in real estate and banking to start Century Partners, a development firm aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods in the Motor City. The duo also uses the biz to help Detroit’s Black residents build wealth.

OMG I see young black men doing their best again! It’s so inspiring and make me feel proud! #BlackPride Detroit gotta start pushing to keep its young people at all costs. Local businesses should be doing everything they can to acquire and then hire interns. The city is almost already ideal for young professionals with its thriving nightlife and wide array of eateries.  

Detroit has a horrible reputation. People disregard the city and pass it off as a worthless cause. I’m trying to get a feel for what would make people take a second look at Detroit. And This is it! 

1. Don’t keep bringing up your past mistakes.

2. Don’t keep beating yourself up for the things you get wrong.

3. Don’t expect things from yourself that you’re not yet able to give.

4. Be proud of all the progress you’ve made.

5. Believe that you deserve to be respected.

6. Believe that you deserve to be wanted.

7. Believe that you deserve to be loved.
