| Summary : Once upon a neon-soaked evening, you sat at the bar, legs swinging, drink in hand, watching Sanji dance through bottles and flame. A shimmer of pink in your glass, a lazy smile on your lipsâuntil something small, unseen, slipped into the night.
The lively hum of the bar wrapped around you like a warm, fizzy embrace. Neon lights flickered against the polished counter, casting soft glows across your mostly empty glass. You swung your legs back and forth on the barstool, idly watching Sanji work his magic behind the bar.
Your gorgeous, golden-haired boyfriend moved like poetry in motion, twirling bottles, pouring drinks, charming patrons with that devilish smile of his. You sighed dreamily, propping your chin in your palm as you traced the rim of your drink with a manicured nail.
âEnjoying the show, princess?â Sanjiâs smooth voice pulled you from your thoughts. He slid a fresh pink cocktail in front of you with a wink.
âMhmm, my pretty bartender boyfriend is the best part of the night,â you cooed, taking a dainty sip of your drink. It was sweet, fizzy, andâmost importantlyâpretty pink.
Sanji chuckled, ruffling slightly your hair. âWhat am I gonna do with you, sweetheart?â
You grinned up at him, about to say something flirty when a stranger slid into the seat next to you. He was nondescript, just another face in the sea of patrons, but you felt an uneasy shift in the air. You paid him little mind, too busy savoring your drink and waiting for Sanji to look your way again.
It wasnât until you saw the manâs hand move over your glass that your tipsy haze lifted just a little. You blinked slowly, watching him pour something from a tiny vial into your drink. The pink color dulled instantly, and your brows knitted together.
Ew. Now it wasnât pretty anymore.
You turned your nose up at the ruined drink, pushing it away with a pout. Without hesitation, you waved Sanji over, your lips forming the perfect spoiled little frown.
âAnother one, angel?â he teased, already moving to make you a fresh cocktail.
âMhm. That dude put some nasty stuffi in my drink⌠itâs not pretty pink anymore.â
Sanji froze, the ice in his shaker rattling ominously as his head snapped toward you. âWhat did you just say?â
You pointed at the men with a pout. âThat dude put something in it. It got all ugly and stuff.â
Sanji followed your line of sight to the man sitting beside you. His ocean-blue eyes darkened, his entire body tensing like a wire about to snap. The stranger barely had time to react before Sanji vaulted over the bar with alarming speed.
The next few moments were a blurâSanji grabbing the man by the collar, a powerful kick sending him sprawling onto the floor. A flurry of gasps rippled through the bar, but you remained perched on your stool, watching with wide, curious eyes.
Sanji didnât just stop at knocking him down. No, your fiery protector was livid. His foot came down, pinning the manâs chest as he loomed over him, smoke practically curling from his cigarette.
âYou lowlife piece of shit,â Sanji spat, his usual charm completely gone. âYou think you can pull something like that under my watch?!â
âI-I didnâtââ
Sanjiâs foot pressed down harder, silencing whatever pathetic excuse the man was about to make. âIf you ever show your disgusting face around here again, Iâll make sure you leave in a body bag.â
The guy scrambled away the second Sanji let him go, disappearing into the night like a roach scurrying under a fridge.
With a satisfied huff, Sanji straightened his tie and turned back to you, his expression softening. âAre you okay, sweetheart?â
You tilted your head, blinking up at him. âUh-huh. But my drink isnât pretty anymore.â
Sanji let out a breathy chuckle, shaking his head. âYouâre unbelievable, you know that?â
Still, he wasted no time whipping up another drink, making sure it was the prettiest pink youâd ever seen. He slid it in front of you with a fond smile, pressing a kiss to your forehead.
âThere you go, princess. A fresh one.â
You clapped your hands together, delighted. âYay! Thank you, Sanji! Youâre the bestest bartender ever!â
His heart melted at your words, and as you took a happy sip of your new drink, he swore heâd always be there to protect his sweet little airheadâhis adorable, oblivious princess.

Pray, tell meâam I truly the only soul who delights in bestowing a touch of the fantastical upon these dreadfully mundane mortal tales? Picture it: ethereal fairies weaving through the trials of Squid Game, or a resplendent goddess descending amidst the ruin of The Walking Dead. Honestly, must I alone bear the burden of imagination in this drab little world?
Anyway, worry not, darlingsâa new story shall grace your presence soon. Iâm merely indulging in a much-needed royal vacation.
| Summary : Once upon a quiet morning a small thing was forgottenâjust a ring, simple and gold, left behind without a thought. And yet, for the rest of the day, Sanji grew quiet, distant, and strangely flustered. You watched him dodge your gaze, sidestep your touch, wrapped up in a secret he wouldnât speak aloud.
Type : Fluff
Warnings : Slight angst on Sanjiâs side, very soft hurt/comfort, Marriedâ˘
The morning sun poured through the porthole of the shared bedroom, casting golden light over the curve of your shoulder. You stirred with a soft sigh, warm and wrapped in the lingering scent of Sanjiâs cologne and the faintest trace of last nightâs perfumeâan blend of lavender and black tea that always clung to him after a late-night cleaning spree in the kitchen.
He was already gone, of course. Sanji always rose before everyone else, like the sun itself couldnât function without him in the galley. You smiled sleepily, fingers trailing over the sheets where heâd lain beside you. But as your hand wandered, it caught on something small and cold resting on the edge of the nightstand.
Your brow furrowed.
You sat up, blinking away the fog of sleep, and picked it up.
A wedding ring.
His wedding ring.
The same gold band you had both exchanged months ago. Youâd both promised to never take them off unless absolutely necessary.
Your lips twisted into a crooked smile. âReally, Sanji?â
He mustâve left it behind during his morning routine. That man could be precise in a fight and in the kitchen, but he was an absolute mess when it came to organizing his own life. How he managed to forget his ring of all things, though, was beyond you.
Still holding the ring between your fingers, you padded out of the room barefoot, intent on returning it.
â|
Sanji was in hell.
Not actual hell. No, not the fiery, brimstone kind.
This was a personal hellâa very specific nightmare built for only one man:
He had lost his wedding ring.
It started like any other morning. Heâd gotten up early, brushed his teeth, showered, prepped breakfast, and was halfway through chopping vegetables before he looked down at his hand and realized the unmistakable absence of cool metal against his skin.
Panic had gripped him like a vice.
His first instinct had been to retrace his steps. Heâd run back to the bathroom, rifled through towels, checked the sink drain like a madman, then sprinted back to the bedroom to toss the sheets like a burglar.
Nothing.
He hadnât told you. How could he?
He couldnât face you without it. You meant everything to him. That ring was more than a symbolâit was you. Losing it felt like heâd just dropped his entire world down a drainpipe.
So, he avoided you.
Which was hard, because you kept trying to talk to him.
Youâd poked your head into the galley once that morning, the ring held behind your back. âHey love, you okay? You seem a little distracted today.â
He hadnât even looked up from the cutting board. âOui, ma chĂŠrie, everything is perfect. Just focused on breakfast. Run along, okay?â
The confused look on your face had almost broken him.
Then there was lunch. Youâd come by again, ring in hand.
âSanji, can we talk?â
âSorry, lunch rush! Later, my sweet! Mwah!â
Heâd all but shoved a tray of soba into Usoppâs hands and practically dove into the pantry to avoid you. Each time he saw you, guilt tore another hole in his gut.
⸝
By the time dinner came around, you were fuming.
Youâd tried giving him the ring three more times. Each time, he brushed you off. The most recent attempt, heâd actually ducked under the table when he saw you walking in.
You stood outside the galley, arms crossed, the ring clutched tightly in your palm. Maybe you were overthinking it. Maybe he didnât want to wear it anymore?
No. That didnât make sense.
Sanji adored you. Worshiped the ground you walked on, to the point of idiocy. Whatever this was, it wasnât about not wanting to wear the ring.
But damn if it wasnât hurting.
⸝
It was late.
Most of the crew had turned in for the night. The lights on the Sunnyâs deck were low, the sound of the waves soft against the hull. You sat on the bed, legs tucked beneath you, the ring sitting on the pillow beside you like a small, accusing ghost.
The door creaked.
You looked up.
Sanji stood in the doorway, half in shadow, half cast in the soft golden light from the hall. He looked exhausted. Hair disheveled. Tie undone. Shoulders slumped.
But worst of allâhe looked ashamed.
âHey,â he said quietly.
You didnât respond. You just looked at him.
He walked in slowly, as if approaching a minefield, and sat at the edge of the bed, elbows on his knees, hands twisted together.
âIâŚâ he began, then stopped, cleared his throat, and started again. âI have something to tell you, mon amour.â
You waited.
âI lost it,â he whispered. âI lost my ring. I noticed this morning and I⌠Iâve been looking for it all day. I tore apart the ship. I searched the kitchen, the vents, even the damn seagull nests. I was too embarrassed to tell you. I didnât want you to think I didnât care. That I wasnât careful. Iâm so sorry.â
He still didnât look at you.
You picked up the ring and held it out to him, your voice calm.
âYou mean this wedding ring?â
Sanji froze.
His head whipped toward you, eyes wide, jaw slightly open.
You arched a brow, voice carefully even. âThe one I tried to give you since the start of the day? The same one you forgot in the bedroom this morning?â
His mouth opened. Then closed. Then opened again.
âIâI left it in the bedroom ?â he croaked, horrified.
You nodded slowly.
âI found it on the edge of the nightstand. I figured you took it off to wash your face or something and forgot. I tried to give it back. Multiple times. You even ducked behind Luffy once.â
âI thought you were mad at me,â he said, eyes still wide. âI thought youââ
âSanji,â you interrupted, voice softening, âIâm not mad that you forgot it. Iâm mad you ignored me all day. You couldâve just told me.â
He took the ring from your hand like it was sacred, eyes shimmering. âI didnât want to disappoint you.â
You sighed and shifted forward, wrapping your arms around his shoulders from behind, pressing your forehead to the side of his neck.
âSanji, I married you because I love you, not because of a ring. Thatâs just a piece of metal. A beautiful one, yes, but you are the reason it matters.â
He turned his head slightly, his nose brushing yours.
âIâve been a fool,â he murmured. âA lovesick, panicking, fool.â
You kissed his cheek. âYes, but youâre my fool.â
He slipped the ring back onto his finger slowly, reverently, as though he were putting it on for the first time.
Then he turned to face you fully, cupping your face in his hands.
âJe tâaimeâ he whispered.
You smiled. âJe tâaime aussi. Now, no more hiding from me behind dining tables.â
He laughed, breathless and warm, pulling you into a real kiss this timeâsoft, deep, full of the silent apologies and gratitude he couldnât quite say aloud.
When you finally pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours, eyes closed.
âI swear, Iâll never take it off again.â
âGood,â you teased. âBecause next time, I might just make you earn it back.â
His eyes lit up, lips curving. âDoes that mean youâll punish me, Mrs. Vinsmoke?â
You smacked his shoulder lightly. âIt means Iâll make you sleep in the kitchen.â
He laughed again, and this time it was full, bright, and wholly relieved.
And just like that, the weight lifted, replaced with something infinitely warmerâsomething that sparkled even brighter than a silver ring under moonlight.
Love, as chaotic and imperfect as it was, had never tasted sweeter.

| summary : The next morning, Zoro attempts to lead the crew to your houseâbut, unsurprisingly, he gets lost. As frustration mounts, heâs forced to swallow his pride and sing the silly navigation song you taught him
Type : Fluff
Warnings : "ZoroâŚbeing lost" x2,A ridiculous navigation song, Sanji being a menace,Poor Zoro
The next morning, Zoro was sure he could find his way back to your house without a problem.
That confidence lasted about ten minutes.
âOi, mossheadâare we there yet, or do you have us walking in circles?â
Zoro gritted his teeth and resisted the urge to chuck his sword at Sanjiâs smug face. âShut up, curly brows. I know where Iâm going.â
âDo you?â Nami deadpanned, arms crossed as she huffed behind him. âBecause weâve been walking for an hour, and I swear we passed that same tree three times already.â
âNot my fault all the damn trees look the same,â Zoro muttered under his breath.
Usopp groaned, wiping sweat from his forehead. âZoro, just admit itâyouâre lost.â
âI am not lost,â Zoro insisted.
âYou are absolutely lost,â Robin said with a small chuckle.
Luffy, who had been munching on a piece of meat as he followed along, finally tilted his head. âZoro, didnât the person you met say theyâd tell you how to get there?â
Zoro stiffened.
He did not want to admit that he had, in fact, been given clear instructions. Worse than that, he did not want to start singing like a damn idiot in front of everyone.
But after another ten minutes of wandering aimlessly, he was left with no choice.
He sighed, running a hand down his face. âTch⌠fine.â
âWhat was that? Didnât quite catch that, marimo,â Sanji said, leaning closer with an infuriating smirk.
Zoro ignored him, shutting his eye and inhaling deeply. Then, in a low grumble, he started mumbling the song under his breath.
âUp the hill, past the tree,â
âWalk where the river used to be.â
There was a beat of silence.
Thenâ
Sanji snorted. âAre you singing?â
Luffyâs eyes sparkled. âOhhh! Zoro, sing it louder!â
Zoroâs jaw twitched. âNo.â
But unfortunately, Sanji was having the time of his life with this. âWhat was that? I canât hear you, swordsman! Something about a river? Is that a nursery rhyme? I didnât know you were so cute!â
âSay one more word and Iâll cut your damn tongue out,â Zoro growled.
âNot my fault you sound like a little kid skipping through a field of flowers,â Sanji cackled.
âZoro, come on, donât be shy!â Luffy beamed. âKeep going!â
Zoro hated everything about this.
But he also hated being lost.
Gritting his teeth, he powered through, voice barely above a mumble.
âTurn to the left, count to three,
âThen go right where the big rockâll be.â
âHoly crap, wait,â Usopp said, blinking. âThere is a big rock over there.â
Everyone paused.
They turned to look at the large, moss-covered rock resting just off the path.
Zoro refused to acknowledge the fact that your ridiculous song was actually helping. Instead, he just grumbled and kept walking.
âFollow the path, donât lose sight,â
âThen youâll find my house just right.â
The crew continued forward, and soon enoughâ
âThere it is!â Chopper gasped, pointing ahead.
And just like that, your little house on the hill came into view.
Zoro crossed his arms, smug despite the slight redness in his face. âTold you I knew where I was going.â
Sanji scoffed. âYeah, sure. You sang your way here like a lost child.â
Luffy, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear. âThat was fun! Zoro, we should use songs to find places all the time!â
âAbsolutely not.â
As the crew made their way up the hill, the door to your house creaked open, and you stepped outside, smiling when you saw them. âWell, well. You actually made it.â
Zoro huffed, glancing away. âYeah, yeah.â
You folded your arms, amused. âSo⌠did you sing the song?â
Sanji burst out laughing before Zoro could even reply. âOh, he sang it. Like a sweet little lost lamb.â
Zoro groaned. âI swear to godââ
You chuckled, shaking your head. âWell, Iâm glad you all found your way. Come on inâI made plenty of food.â
That was all it took for Luffy to go running toward you. âFOOOOOD!â
With that, the rest of the crew followed, leaving Zoro standing there with an exhausted sigh.
lost on the hills is so cuteđi can totally see zoro doing this as a filler episode
Ah, so your thoughts traveled the same path as mine!
As I crafted this piece, I happened to be watching a filler episode and thought, âNow, wouldnât it be most amusing if Zoro, in his ever-hopeless sense of direction, stumbled upon the reader?â
It brings me great joy to know you envisioned the same and found delight in it!
My gratitude for your message, mysterious Luminary of the Courtâyour words are most appreciated đŠľ

The rhythmic rustling of the leaves was the only sound that accompanied you as you stood outside your house, the soft evening breeze carrying the scent of the forest. Your small home sat perched on a hill just beyond the thickest part of the woods, isolated from the rest of the island. You preferred it that wayâfewer people meant fewer problems.
But today, you werenât alone.
A stranger stood just a few feet away from your doorstep, looking just as perplexed as you felt.
Green hair. Three swords. Broad, muscular frame.
You held your breath, your fingers tightening around the wooden spoon you had been using before you heard the unmistakable crunch of boots on dry leaves. Your noodle legs taking you to your front door window.
He lookedâŚdangerous
âWho are you?â you asked, voice firmer than you felt.
The man blinked, then let out a frustrated sigh. âTch. Donât tell me I wandered into someoneâs house again.â
Again?
You frowned. âYou mean to tell me you donât even know how you got here?â
âThatâs about right,â he admitted, scratching the back of his head. âI was just walkinâ through the forest, and then suddenly, Iâm here.â
What the fuck ?
You stared at him, trying to gauge if he was a threat. His swords were still strapped to his hip, but he made no move to grab them. His stance, though relaxed, carried the kind of stillness that came with confidenceâlike he didnât need to draw his weapon to be dangerous.
Slowly you got out of your house, spoon still in hand.
But something about him wasnât setting off any alarms. His expression was open, a little annoyed but not aggressive. Just⌠lost.
You exhaled, lowering your guard just a fraction. âWell, you are at someoneâs house. Mine.â
His eye flickered to the small wooden cottage behind you, then back to your face. âYou live out here all alone?â
You crossed your arms. âYeah. And I like it that way.â
The man hummed, as if he understood. âHuh.â
You watched him carefully, waiting for any sign of bad intentions, but instead of doing anything suspicious, he just⌠plopped down on the ground, legs crossed.
Well. That was unexpected.
âYouâre just gonna sit there?â you asked.
âYou got a better idea? Not like I know how to get back,â he grumbled. âBesides, I walked all damn day. My legs could use a break.â
You hesitated. He really didnât seem like he was going to hurt you, and there was something strangely nonchalant about him that made it hard to stay tense.
ââŚYou want some water?â
He tilted his head. âHuh?â
âYou said youâve been walking all day.â You turned toward your house, already pushing open the door. âMight as well have a drink before you try to find your way back.â
For a second, he didnât respond, but then you heard the faintest chuckle. âYeah. Thatâd be nice.â
⸝
By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, you had already spent the better part of your day talking to the stranger.
His name was Roronoa Zoro. A swordsman.
Apparently, he was part of the infamous Straw Hat crew, though you had never met them. You had heard whispers of their exploits whenever you went into town for supplies, but you never paid much attention to rumors.
âYour captain just lets you wander off?â you asked, pouring yourself another cup of tea as Zoro leaned against your wooden porch.
âHe doesnât let me. It just happens,â Zoro grumbled.
You smirked. âSo⌠you get lost a lot?â
Zoro scowled. âNo.â
âYou literally ended up at my house by accidentâŚ. "
ââŚOkay, maybe sometimes.â
You laughed, surprising even yourself. You couldnât remember the last time you had entertained a guest, let alone one as odd as this swordsman. He was blunt, a little grumpy, but something about his presence wasnât bad. In fact, it was⌠comfortable.
After a while, you sighed, setting your cup down. âYou should probably head back before your friends start to worry.â
Zoro groaned, stretching his arms. âYeah. If I take too long, Luffyâll probably come looking for me, and thatâll be more of a headache.â
You hesitated, then glanced at him. âYou should come back tomorrow.â
Zoro blinked. âHah?â
âYou heard me,â you said, suddenly feeling shy under his gaze. âYou should bring your crew. If you all need a place to rest before you head out, you can come here.â
For a moment, Zoro just stared at you, as if trying to figure out if you were serious. Then, a small smirk pulled at his lips. âYou sure about that? You just met me.â
You shrugged. âYou donât seem like a bad guy.â
Zoro let out a low chuckle. âGuess I should be flattered.â
But then, as if realizing something, his expression shifted. ââŚWait. How the hell am I supposed to get back here?â
You raised an eyebrow. âYou really donât know?â
âIf I did, I wouldnât have ended up here by accident,â Zoro deadpanned.
You snorted. âOkay, fair point.â Then, after a moment of thought, you grinned. âI have an idea.â
Zoro narrowed his eye. âI donât like that look.â
Ignoring him, you sat up straighter. âI made up a song a while back to help me remember how to find my house. You can just sing it tomorrow, and itâll lead you back here.â
Zoro gave you the most skeptical look you had ever seen. âYouâre joking.â
âNope,â you said, crossing your arms. âYou wanna come back or not?â
Zoro sighed, rubbing his temple. âFine. Whatâs the stupid song?â
You grinned before dramatically clearing your throat.
ÂŤÂ Up the hill, past the tree,
Walk where the river used to be.
Turn to the left, count to three,
Then go right where the big rockâll be.
Follow the path, donât lose sight,
Then youâll find my house just right!
Silence.
Zoro stared at you, completely deadpan. ââŚThatâs dumb.â
You gasped. âHey! It works!â
Zoro groaned, dragging a hand down his face. âYou expect me to sing that?â
âYou want to find my house, donât you?â
He muttered something under his breath before standing up, rolling his shoulders. âFine. Whatever. But if I get lost again, itâs your fault.â
You smirked. âSure, sure.â
Zoro glanced at the darkening sky, then back at you. âAlright. Iâll tell my crew. Be ready for chaos, though.â
You laughed. âI think I can handle it.â
With that, Zoro gave you one last nod before stepping off your porch and disappearing into the trees.
You watched him go, a small smile lingering on your lips.

Days had passed since the fight.
Days spent tryingâand failingâto stop thinking about him.
You werenât the type to get distracted. You were a pirate, for godâs sake. You had a crew, a purpose, a life that didnât include falling for a damn enemy cook.
And yet, here you were. Lying awake at night, replaying the way his fingers had felt against yours. The way his blue eyes had burned into you like a brand. The way your heart had betrayed you the moment you met him.
It was pathetic.
And it only got worse when your captain announced that you were going after the Straw Hats again.
The first attack had been a disaster. Your crew had retreated after realizing the Straw Hats werenât just some weak, stupid pirate bandâthey were a lot stronger. But your captain was stubborn, and his pride was wounded. He was determined to try again.
You, on the other hand, were determined to do something really fucking stupid.
Which was how you found yourself sneaking away from your ship under the cover of night, heading toward the Straw Hats' anchored vessel with nothing but a stolen rowboat and a heart that refused to be quiet.
This was insane. Reckless. Possibly the dumbest thing youâd ever done.
But you had to see him.
You just⌠had to.
By some miracle, you managed to slip past the night watch. The ship was quiet, the crew fast asleep. You crept along the deck, searching forâ
A shadow moved.
You barely had time to react before someone lunged, a blade pressed against your throat.
Your back hit the mast, breath catching in your throat as a familiar voice growled, âDidnât get enough last time, huh?â
Zoro.
Of course it was Zoro.
You swallowed hard, raising your hands slowly. âWait. IâIâm not here to fight.â
Zoroâs eyes narrowed. âThen why the hell are you here?â
Good questionâŚA very, very good question.
âIâŚâ Your words caught, nerves threatening to strangle you. Shit. How were you supposed to say this out loud? How were you supposed to admit that you had thrown away everythingâyour crew, your captainâs trust, your entire damn lifeâbecause of one single moment?
Because of one stupidly charming cook?
Before you could answer, another voice cut through the night.
âOi, Marimo, what the hell do you think youâre doing?â
And there he was.
Sanji stood at the top of the stairs, a cigarette dangling from his lips, his expression unreadable. His eyes flickered between you and Zoro.
Zoro didnât move. âCaught a rat sneaking around the ship.â
Sanji exhaled, stepping closer, the glow of his cigarette casting flickering shadows across his face. His ocean-blue eyes locked onto yours, and for a second, you forgot how to breathe.
âWhat are you doing here, sweetheart?â His voice was calm, almost as if to calm a frightened puppy or a child.
You had to say something.
âIââ You swallowed hard. âI left my crew.â
Zoro scoffed. âConvenient.â His blade didnât lower.
Sanji, however, didnât take his eyes off you. âWhy?â
God, why did he have to look at you like that? Like he could see straight through you, past all the hesitation and fear and straight into the mess that had taken over your heart since the moment you met him?
âI donât know,â you admitted, voice barely above a whisper. âI justââ You took a shaky breath. âI couldnât fight you. I donât want to fight you.â
It sounded so stupid out loud. Like the worst excuse ever. But it was the truth.
Zoro made a noise of disbelief. âYou expect us to believe you just abandoned your entire crew because of him?â He shot a glare at Sanji. âWhat the hell did you do to her?â
Sanji smirked. âCan you blame her, Marimo? I do have that effect on women.â
You groaned, pointing to blade at your throat. âOh my god, not the time.â
Sanji chuckled. âSorry, love. Couldnât help myself.â Then his gaze softened. âYou serious about leaving your crew?â
You nodded. âMy captainâs planning another attack on you guys. IâI didnât want any part of it.â
Zoro frowned. âSo what, you thought weâd just let you waltz onto the ship and stay here?â He lowered his blade, eyeing you suspiciously.
ââŚMaybe?â
Sanji sighed, running a hand through his hair. âListen, Iâd love to take you in, but itâs not my decision.â He nodded toward the interior of the ship. âYouâll have to talk to Luffy.â
You hesitated. Luffy. The infamous captain of the Straw Hats. If he said no, then what?
You had already burned your bridges. There was no going back.
Sanji must have noticed your hesitation, because he smiled, stepping closer. âDonât worry, sweetheart. Iâll put in a good word for you.â
Zoro rolled his eyes. âOf course you will.â
You couldnât help itâyou smiled back. Just a little.
Maybe you were crazy. Maybe this was the dumbest decision of your life.
But standing here, looking into those blue eyes, you had a feeling youâd made the right one.

The chaos of battle surrounded you. Swords clashed, gunfire rang through the salty air, and the shouts of fighting pirates filled your ears. Your captain had decided today was the day to attack the Straw Hatsâan impulsive, reckless decision that left you questioning his leadership. But questioning orders wasnât an option.
You had a role to play in this fight.
And that role currently had you standing face-to-face with a blonde man in a black suit, his cigarette hanging lazily from his lips as he blocked the path ahead. He had an easy smirk, but his stance was solid, his presence radiating confidence. He wasnât taking you lightly.
Sanji
You knew of him, of course. The Straw Hatsâ cook, the one who could destroy opponents with his legs alone. And damn, now that you were seeing him up close, you realized the rumors hadnât done him justice.
But you didnât have time to admire him. You had a fight to win.
Your grip on your weapon tightened, and you lunged.
And then he looked at you.
Blue eyes locked onto yours, piercing straight through you like a damn sword. There was no warning, no slow build-upâit hit you like a cannonball to the chest. Your heart stuttered, your breath caught, and your entire body froze mid-strike.
What the hell?
Your mind screamed at you to move, to swing, to do something, but all you could do was stare. It was like time itself had stopped. The battle around you faded, distant and unimportant. All that existed in that moment was him.
And oh, you were fucked.
Because it wasnât just attraction. No, this was something deeper, something terrifyingly immediate. It was like your soul had just recognized something it had been searching for all along.
Sanjiâs brows furrowed slightly at your hesitation. âHuh?â
You couldnât speak. Couldnât breathe. Couldnât do anything.
Which was a problemâbecause the next thing you knew, a glint of silver caught your eye.
Zoroâs sword, swinging straight for your head.
You barely had time to react before a blur of black and blonde crashed into you, knocking you off balance and sending you tumbling to the ground. The impact left you breathless, but at least you werenât dead.
âWhat the hell, Marimo?!â Sanjiâs voice rang out above you, furious.
âSheâs an enemy,â Zoro shot back, his sword still raised.
âSheâs a lady! You absolute caveman!â Sanjiâs weight shifted off you as he scrambled to his feet, standing between you and Zoro like a protective barrier. âYou donât just go swinging at a beautiful woman like that!â
You barely registered the words, still trying to process what had just happened. You had stopped attacking him. He had saved you. And now he was defending you?
Your face burned.
Zoro scoffed. âShe was about to attack you.â
âDo you really think Iâd let that happen?â Sanji exhaled, shaking his head like he was disgusted. âYou wound me, Zoro. You really do.â
Meanwhile, you were still on the ground, staring up at them like an idiot. Your crew was fighting, your captain was barking orders, and you were sitting here having a crisis over some blonde man with a cigarette and a stupidly charming smile.
Sanji turned back to you, his expression softening. âAre you alright, mademoiselle?â He offered you a hand, his voice dripping with concern.
You hesitated. You shouldnât take it. You were supposed to be enemies. This was supposed to be a fight.
But⌠god, you couldnât help it.
Your fingers slipped into his, and he pulled you to your feet with effortless grace. The warmth of his skin sent electricity up your arm, and suddenly, you were hyper-aware of everythingâhis touch, his scent, the way he was way too close.
Yeah. Because if you stayed any longer, you were going to die of embarrassment.
You took a step back, heart hammering in your chest. This was ridiculous. You couldnât just fall for someone in the middle of a battle. That wasnât how this worked!
But as you turned to retreat, you couldnât resist one last glance.
Sanji was still watching you, his expression unreadable. And maybeâjust maybeâthere was something in his eyes too. Something dangerous. Something too real.
