My beautiful moon child at 6 months old (she is now almost 7!)

7 months later and I finally lost all my pregnancy weight! This postpartum journey is easily described in one word: forgiveness. I forgive my body for take its sweet time so I could nourish my baby with milk made by me. I forgive my mind for being angry at my body for looking a certain way. And most important I forgive the universe for not giving me what I asked for because sometimes you are given what you need and not what you necessarily want.

I love this life I live

Enjoyed some pumpkin picking at the pumpkin patch in Solvang, CA. It was windy as hell but still fun to do something festive for the first time with Bodhi Moon. She seemed to enjoy it! Namaste.

My little angel is 8 weeks old and growing so fast!

When in doubt, stick the baby on the boob. When nothing else is working and all you have is an upset little one, stick the baby on the boob. When you just feel like some motherbaby bonding, stick the baby on the boob! I could not imagine not breastfeeding, this has bonded us like no other.

One month postpartum

First date night as parents and it felt so good! We went wine tasting in Santa Maria, California at a beautiful winery called Presquile Winery. We are both total wine lovers and this was a major treat. With a 5 week old baby this was officially our first date night and my first time being baby free for a few hours.

I love our life. I love the weird days filled adventuring around for no reason and spending too much money on food just because. I love having to vacuum our apartment every single day to battle what seems like a never ending war with fleas even though we always only find one or two. I love the moments of stress just as much as the moments of relaxation because without balance there would not be any appreciation. I love being excited about picking out baby clothes and nursing pillows and cat toys. I love how you always make me try to feel as comfortable as possible and how we laugh at the hormonal moments of the final weeks of pregnancy. I love laying in bed with you every night and talk about current news events and what it’s going to be like to be parents. I love looking into your eyes and rubbing your face just to feel your stubble. The ups and downs, the crazy and the calm, and every in between, is what makes our story our own. I love our life and I appreciate every moment of it. Cheers to our family and cheers to my due date being in less than 12 hours!

Hello little one. Still waiting on your arrival! I am officially 38 weeks and 6 days and ready for you to come out anytime. I am 1.5cm dilated and about 70-80% effaced which is great because my doctor keeps hinting that you probably won’t stay inside me up to your due date. That means you should be here sometime this week! We have had a few false labor scares but nothing that drove me to the hospital. We have a wonderful doula and a second doula and childbirth educator who will be present through our labor together. We are doing our labor all natural of course and hopefully intervention free. Definitely no epidural. My contractions are getting so strong so I imagine you won’t be in my belly much longer. I have a bunch of things to do before you enter the world and I feel like I won’t ever be 100% prepared but that’s okay. I’m glad my mom will help us through this process of postpartum adventure we get to go through. I love you so much. Dad sure is ready to meet you little one. He suddenly thinks you’re a girl which I find hilarious because I know you’re a boy. We don’t need an ultrasound to confirm what I already know about you. It is going to be even more motivation to get me through labor pains and surges knowing you get to be a surprise. As it should be! As of July 23rd you are officially a Leo! Thank god. I was worried you would be a cancer like me and your dad, 3 cancers in one house equals an emotional and at times over sensitive family unit! But you are going to be my strong confident Leo and I am so thankful for that. The blue moon is this Friday and it’s the second full moon this month which means it’s the perfect day for you to make your arrival! Considering your name is Bodhi Moon ;) this may be the last post I write to you while you’re still in my belly! That’s bittersweet for sure. Final thoughts: moms been cooking a lot more I recently made Rosemary roasted almonds and honey peanut butter oat bars. I am hoping to be an awesome cook by the time you grow up a little. I love you sweet angel. Safe travels.

36 weeks pregnant and 1cm dialated. Doctor thinks you could be here in the next couple weeks Bodhi Moon! Me and Daddy are so excited for your arrival! We have our doula all picked out and have gone through our first prenatal visit with her, she is really special I think she will hold a calm energy for your gentle birth story. Daddy and I are anticipating your big day and we are going to try to make your birthday as special as possible. We everything prepared and are just counting down the minutes at this point. We love you so much. It was my 22nd birthday on July first and Daddy's 29th birthday on July 10th. I still think you will be a cancer just like us but who knows! You have been moving around a ton and I have contractions everyday but that's okay it's just giving me peace of mind for labor, mommy will stay strong and welcome you into the world medication free. Everything is pointing to us having a beautiful natural birth, you are head down and in a great position for labor so we are all ready to go! Your godmother Steph came to visit us and we are having a blast just hanging out and talking about you! She's excited to meet you too. I love you so much Bodhi you are going to have a beautiful peaceful life with us by your side.

Baby love

34 weeks pregnant today! Had a hospital scare last week where I thought I was going into labor but was advised to rest and not do anything too active to make sure contractions don't come early. Daddy and I got a kitten so you can have an animal to grow up with and we named him Mufasa. I am getting increasingly uncomfortable because you are getting so big and pushing on my lungs and making it hard for me to breathe sometimes! But I love you regardless of course :) I am really getting excited to meet you and can't believe how close I am to your big debut. Knowing if you are a boy or a girl will be the best surprise ever! Daddy and I keep joking about what our reactions will be if you end up being a girl because we have associated you as a boy the entire pregnancy! What a big laugh that will be if we ended up being wrong ;) we love you so much Bodhi Moon and can't wait to see your beautiful face for the first time. I love you little one.
