Community Medicine Ministry: Infections
As I have been healing an infection from what seems like a spider bite this last 10 days, i am considering even more deeply the relevance and responsibility to continue to step towards actualizing community medicine ministry.
Let’s Think about it, together - what does it take for an average citizen to heal an infection
- [ ] body and mind awareness to notice the pain
- [ ] resources to keep my foot clean and covered
- [ ] An extra pair of shoes that covers my ankle
- [ ] the wherewithal to be consistent checking in on and assessing the infection
- [ ] The fortitude t continue to apply remedies to prevent a deeper infection
- [ ] A phone to call and meet up with a medical team to assess the growing infection
- [ ] A bus pass to go see the doctor
- [ ] Funds to spend on the homeopathies required to treat for a “deep infection”
- [ ] A pillow to keep my foot elevated
- [ ] friends who knew to follow up with me and check in on progress
- [ ] Access to water and food that built up my immune system
NOW, imagine if you are without a home, have no access to hot water, clean washcloth, bandages…you have no phone (or there is no where to charge it), your doctor is 2 bus rides away and you don’t have $4 for a day pass….and well, you cant call your doctor…what do you do?
