Joking aside, I hope the bbc takes this as a lesson that relying on nostalgia all the time isn’t a good thing and they actually start to give new people a chance to tell fresh stories.

Doctor who showrunners be like “writing a good story to secure the show’s continued existence? That pales in comparison to my strategy. Stuntcasting Billie piper” and then not even secure the show’s continued existence.

I can’t wait until one day however far into the future we get some kind of tell-all about the truth of everything that’s gone on behind the scenes during the RTD2 era. It’s been a mess from the beginning that only got more and more insane as time went on and they’ve outright lied about multiple things even when we obviously all knew it wasn’t true. This will be a truly fascinating era of the show to deconstruct when we (hopefully) learn much much more someday.
