Who would be involved in this project?
This project, if it was to actually be developed further into a fully realised display for the CUBE, would involve a large number of people from different backgrounds.
The animation of virtual Brisbane, interactive touch screen displays, and smart phone application would require animators, 3D modellers, interface designers and programmers in order to fully create the project.
However other experts from other backgrounds would also be needed such as environmental experts who would be able to give more context to the project in terms of how virtual Brisbane should react to the data users are feeding into it, for example smog level as the number of people driving cars rises.
What Can be Improved
As my main area of study visual design, I would have liked to focus a lot more of my energy on getting the visual and user interaction design more refined. Although I have basic skills in After Effects, I am clearly not an animator. I had to put a lot of time into the video for the prototype itself which gave me less time to really refine the user interface.
Therefore the one key project management skill I would focus on for future projects is managing the time properly and focusing my what I do well and what I have the skills in. This would produced a project that, although would have probably been even weaker on the animation and video side, but would have produced a more refined visual design and user interface that I would have been more happy with.

One of the key inspirations for this concepts look and feel has been the ECOS project that was presented to us at the CUBE. As soon as I saw the project, I was able to relate it with my own ideas and how I wanted my project to look if it was to be fully developed in the future.
This also reinforces my concept in a way as it shows that the issue of climate change and the environment is very much still relevant and interactive displays such as ECOS is being created for a leading edge project such as the CUBE
changes made from first presentation
The main change that I have made to the concept since the first presentation resulted from one of the main criticisms of 'what is it about this project that will get users interested and more involved with the display at the CUBE'.
I addressed this by coming up with a more interactive and fun aspect to the concept. The user will now be able to collect what I call 'Green Points' on their phone for using greener modes of transport (the more they use a bike to get to where they are going, for example, results in them earning more 'Green Points'.
They are then able to use their collected green points at the CUBE display in order to help clean up Brisbane's Smog by touching their phone onto of the screens with the smog animation and 'vacuum' up the smog in trade for their 'Green Points'.
Another aspect that I have thought about more is sourcing real world data and statistics on the actual climate of Brisbane and how it is changing. The user interface at the CUBE and on their smart application will be able to view both the simulated, virtual Brisbane and its pollution levels and also view real world, up to date data sourced from the Brisbane City Council.
Since the first presentation, the graphic user interface has also been refined and developed visually into something that I believe is very clean and easy to understand and use. This is important for me as I believe that the display at the CUBE will need to allow users to interact with it very quickly and easily as I see the area it is in as a transitional area, meaning people will be less likely to spend a large amount of time there as most will just be walking through.
Therefore the smart phone application allows users to, in a way, take the display and all the data and information that is present at the CUBE with them where ever they go which should help to increase usage.
