I do think the Hank Green AI thing makes it abundantly clear that if you have ADHD or any other mental illness and/or you are prone to addiction you need to avoid AI at all costs. This shit will rope you in, and if you have a mental illness that say, starves your brain of dopamine, you're gonna be extra susceptible to that. I won't use AI for a lot of reasons but one of the big ones is knowing how it would fuck with my ADHD and bipolar. Like yes, it's bad for the environment and giving money to rich scumbags and runs on plagarism, but even more than all that, it's straight up not safe at all and you really shouldn't use it if for no other reason than to protect yourself from whatever the fuck it might do to you.

like i just think if your response to "i hate that the default swimwear made for women is hypersexualised & impractical but if you choose to cover up more it's assumed to be a reflection of how you feel about your appearance" is "well some women aren't considered sexual objects by patriarchal standards" it's a bit like ? i mean yes? that's true. like it's the same forces at work. women need to be sexy or they need to be aspiring to be sexy. if they think your body is attractive they feel entitled to see it & if they don't think your body is attractive you have no value so you're meant to lose weight + shave + wear makeup until your body is attractive enough for you to become a sexual object & therefore Worth something. but that worth is ultimately hollow & the "empowerment" that comes from sexualising yourself is hollow too. i'm never gonna see bikinis as empowering.

the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this
