the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this

it's such a shame this is kon's solo. he's such a vibrant fun character and every issue and every writer's run is a complete slog to get through, whether it's the off-color and/or misogynistic humor, confusing plotlines, guess we doing circles, uncontested predation on its teenage protagonist, how do you do kids dialogue, or wild cycling between bottom of the barrel artists. i cannot believe i've gotten through 100 issues of this i deserve a medal. there are maybe 12/13 issues in the whole run i can confidently recommend that other people read. the highs are rare and short and are quickly followed by entire arcs of boring or confusing or trite or sexist or uncomfortable bullshit. his appearances in other comics have been good. this was excruciating. i cannot believe this ran for 8 years. i wish i could have liked this more because i adore kon-el, but that would require that the comic clear the 5/10 bar. the worst issues of tim's robin solo have not touched the lows of kon's. he deserved so much better. god in heaven have mercy on earth's tortured souls.
