Hey, so I haven't been active on Tumblr in a hot minute so pardon me if I'm totally out of line here, but did fandom etiquette change drastically since I took a break?
I went scrolling through the Izuocha tag for the first time ever on a whim, and the amount of untagged hatred for said ship was insane. I'm specifically talking about the untagged part, mind you. And I'm sure it's bad the other way around too for bakudeku, I am certain of it. Some of u are just so bad at staying in your lane, my goodness.
I have added so many tags to block anti content and it still comes up.
What's wild to me is that I was part of the Steve/Tony fandom in the MCU when Stucky was at the height of its popularity, and I don't ever remember having this issue. At least, not to this extremity. If you missed a tag on an anti ship post, you got called out for it pretty quick.
ALSO? Holy moly, what is with the sheer volume of content that's like "Why Izuocha will NEVER happen" or "Bakudeku will never date!"
WHY ARE YOU ALL SO MEAN TO EACH OTHER? On one hand, freedom of speech and say whatever you want, etc etc etc. Sure, great! But on the other hand, genuinely why can't you enjoy your ship without putting another ship down? The amount of posts I've seen from ppl who are ecstatic that a rival shipper is the unhappy with the ending, holy smokes you guys. Wow.
No fandom is perfect, but any time I've engaged in fandom communities, it was only to talk about why we LIKED that ship. I almost never, ever saw things like "Why stucky is so much better than Stony" or "Why Stucky will never happen in a million years."
And I don't mean to sound cranky, I really don't, but I was literally just told: "Just because my post about izuocha was negative, doesn't mean it doesn't belong in the izuocha tag."
YES IT DOES, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
That's so mean, like I would never pop into a tag just to dump on it??? I have ships I don't like, but I don't want to spoil anyone's experience???? That was never how tags were meant to be used.
I'm sure there are lots of mha fans having fun out there, but it feels like you have to work really hard to curate your experience nowadays (like, way harder than you used to, imo).
