I drew some Pikmin clinging to a giant flower after a rainy day.

I have been obsessed with the Pikmin series of games (including the mobile spinoff title, Pikmin Bloom) lately so I had to draw these adorable little guys.

With 2023 almost at an end, I decided to do the ‘Face Your Art’ trend to look back on the art I’ve drawn and posted this year.

I mostly focused on ‘draw this in your style’ challenges on Instagram this year since they were really fun and allowed me to post art related to holidays such as Valentines Day and Christmas. 

I also drew fanart again this year, which primarily consisted of art of various video game characters.

I hope you all had a wonderful 2023 and I wish you a happy 2024. Thank you so much for all the support you’ve given me!

To celebrate Christmas this year, I decided to participate in another #drawthisinyourstyle challenge on Instagram. This time, I illustrated a Christmas themed character by the user @sennydoesarty.

To celebrate Halloween this year, I illustrated my angel OC, Shion as a fallen angel - complete with a dark colour scheme and a blood moon. 

I drew fanart of Tsukasa Tenma from the mobile rhythm game Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku (aka Hatsune Miku: COLORFUL STAGE!). 

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the video game Animal Crossing: New Leaf made it to North America! 

I used to play this game a lot, and I mean a lot back in the day. I would always plant flowers, trees, help out my villagers with various tasks, and spend lots of money at the shops on Main Street to get new clothes and furniture.

To celebrate Mother’s Day this year, I illustrated my mother as an angel carrying her precious baby with a kind and loving heart.

As of March 27th, the Nintendo eShop has shut down on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U family of video game systems. You can no longer purchase games digitally, including DLC.

To say goodbye to this piece of my childhood, I drew the shop’s orange shopping bag mascot flying to heaven.

While I knew the eShop’s service for these two specifc systems would shutdown sometime this decade (since both the 3DS and Wii U have been officially discontinued for years now), it’s still hard for me to believe that it finally happened after years of downloading some of my favourite games…

I will forever love the 3DS and Wii U for the many childhood memories it gave me!

I illustrated fanart of Mafuyu Asahina, one of the many main characters from the mobile game Project SEKAI.

At first glance she appears to be the ideal honour student but there’s more to her than meets the eye…

To match the dark and somber tone of her character, I’ve drawn her eyes a bit differently than usual and mainly used a gloomy purple for the colouring and overlaying. 

The background is a reference to the song Self Inflicted Achromatic (often referred to by it’s Japanese name, Jishou Mushoku) which makes an appearance in-game.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, I decided to draw my angel character Shion, throwing hearts in outer space. 

To match the sweet nature of the holiday, I mostly used soft colours for both the background and character.

I illustrated fanart of Blacephalon, one of my favourite Pokemon introduced in the seventh generation of Pokemon games, debuting in Pokemon Ultra Sun as a version exclusive.

It’s an alien clown from another dimension seen here, juggling circus balls as well as it’s own head. I placed it in a cheerful background which is fitting for a cheerful species of Pokemon.

To say goodbye to 2022, I’ve made a New Year’s illustration featuring all of the original characters I’ve drawn this year to bring it to a close.

From left to right the characters are: Aster, Laurent, Shion (holding my mascot Spiral), Aurora (carrying her bear companion Boris), and Eliza.

Since winter is right around the corner, I decided to draw a polar bear character holding a cute teddy bear.

His name is Boris who is a small polar bear plush who later gains a human form. I was inspired by the Canadian animation studio Nelvana, specifically the polar bear in it’s logo.

The crowned elephant head is a reference the Babar. The smiling star is a reference to Care Bears (specifically The Big Wish movie). The spinning top is a reference to Beyblade. The buttons, needle, and thread are a reference to Boris himself being a plush bear.

To celebrate this year’s Christmas, I decided to draw several of my OCs having a party together. 

Cece, in yellow, got a toy wand because she loves wizards and is showing it off to her friend Tabitha, in purple, who has a new moon-shaped hairpin. Sonus, my robot character, was surprised at seeing a cute little drone pop out of his present.

Regina, in blue, wants to play her new gaming handheld already so she’s setting it up, and Rizu, in green, got a cool new microphone to use for singing.

Lyra, in red, on the other hand just came here for the cake!
