Burma.  A purist's paradise. 

There is nothing in Burma that felt strained, or unreal. Everything feels just the way reality should be. No humongous billboards depicting unrealistic standards of beauty, no loud advertisements advocating glamorous lifestyles. Everything is authentic. A purists's visual and soulful paradise.

This place is where you can spare a few coins to buy bird food and feed the swarm of pigeons outside. In the hectic noise of the buses and passersby, the presence of these birds felt very soothing, like a sacred symbol that reminds locals and tourists of the value of life.

This is the place to try and understand the lives of others, the place to watch monks line up for food donations, the place to think and pause, underneath all the layers of activities happening around you. 

It's also the place to be entranced, bombarded by a selected color palate of charming decay. The city breathes like its old. The paints peel from the buildings like skin. The people like a constant flows of wise stranger. Their smiles genuine and full of curiosity. 

Go to its temples, and circumambulate in the sunset. Let your bare feet touch the tiles underneath you, let them tell you their story. Feel the heat of the day dissipating and radiating from the golden stupas and stone carvings around you. Connect with the space, with the religious chants, with the people in constant prayers.
