“Though you rule the dead, under the earth, who never smile, Persephone, welcome the shade of gentle laughter,”
— Julianus, tr. by W. S. Merwin, from “The Greek Anthology and Other Ancient Epigrams,”
a message from persephone.
we’re still in the middle of winter so don’t feel like you need to renew & bloom now. there will be time for that. for now, take care of yourself and water your seeds. spring will see us all fresh.

POST 6 RANDOM FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF AND TAG 10+ PEOPLE TO DO THE SAME
@zarahjoyce tagged me in this post so here’s mine!
During a “don’t talk for twenty four hours” challenge, I shrieked, ran across the hallway and let myself fall onto the floor in despair because I broke my vow of silence for the nth time
I tried to sign up for blood donations twice in high school but I was considered “underweight” for my height
Apparently you can develop a rash that requires a doctor’s checkup if you eat unwashed strawberries
I ended up scaring my friend into hiding in the math block because she thought I was carrying a knife under my jacket. It was a hairbrush
I didn’t wear a school uniform until I was ten
I fell asleep while going on the bus to school, and I woke up - only to find that I had to make another hour length trip because I missed the stop at the city and slept all the way back to the first stop on the bus’ route
Usually I’d say “consider yourself tagged if you want to do it”, but today…I think I’ll tag @ryuunosenshi, @narashikari and @keruworld! I haven’t heard from them in a while, so here’s a chance to do so :)
The first thing I said after waking up from a major surgery was “What time is it?”
My favorite food (aside from chocolate) is dinuguan, aka pork blood stew. And whenever we have it I would mix the blood sauce into my rice
I went to Universal Studios California when I was in high school. The next year, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened there.
My sister has surrounded her bed with several plushies and pillows of Iron Man and Spider-Man. She has also effectively stolen my Captain America plush Tsum Tsum because she ships it with her Iron Man plush Tsum Tsum
I see one of my friend from college more than my friends in high school even though my HS friends live not even an hour away from me, and the college friend is basically a road trip away
I once put cheese ice cream into Coke to make a Coke Float. It didn’t work out so well.
And I nominate @askrikkaiandhyotei @diamond-night @philipsgaiamemories @nobleartsy / @lordartsy and @kr-shinkuu to follow in my stead :D
Whilst performing the “Kamen Rider Mach⭐!” speech™, I accidentally smacked my friend in the face. She, in turn, delivered me a looong rant about it.
One time on a swimming trip with my family and neighbours, I nearly drowned. Funny enough, the reason we were on a swimming trip in the first place was because we were celebrating my birthday.
My type as a kid was apparently animated robot ladies. I guess I was quite the cultured child.
I used to dip my fries in vanilla ice cream, and I still do it sometimes. I don’t know if it’s an actual thing, or my mom’s friends have been conning me since I was a four year old. I doubt I’ll ever find out.
I love the ocean but I also have thalassophobia. On one hand, ocean breezes and aesthetic. On the other hand, Cthullu.
I like rain because the only other weather I ever experience is Roasting Hot Sun™
@charmeez515, @bitter-as-wormwood-13, you’re up.
@lordartsy , u dragged me into this.
1. Tarantulas are my biggest fears of all, or should I say I have arachnophobia.
2. I’m a lazy ass motherfucker who rarely studies but somehow in top 20 or honors.
3. My parents keep calling me while I’m in my bedroom, the door was closed and it was so super fucking annoying. I wish they could stop :\
4. When I was very young, I didn’t know how to speak until I went to a speaking center called “JISH” (Jeddah Institute for Speech and Hearing) and here I am, speaking in English like countless times already.
5. In the Philippines, I’m an active eater, especially when it comes to pork but here in Saudi, it’s the opposite. Like seriously, my mom keeps the same food from dinner then she just prepared the same food, which makes me too lazy to eat.
6. I became a K-pop fan last year (November 2018) and my fav groups are BTS, EXO, SEVENTEEN and TXT. My ult bias is RM, Baekhyun, Hoshi, and Soobin respectively.
@askrikkaiandhyotei , you’re next (if ure not taken by someone else that is jdkdkdl)
Thanks for the tags, @narashikari and @charmeez515 !
1. I once accidentally threw a board eraser at my math teacher in high school
2. I’m filipino, but prefer italian food over rice
3. I got into Kamen Rider thanks to a cute boy in my class watching Kamen Rider Build on his phone and i recongized it as tokusatu
4. I like to put ketchup on lots of my food
5. I hate needles after I had a blood works where i had to have a needle poked into me FOUR times in one day
6. I once won first place in the woman’s division at a 5k charity run for breast cancer (it was for my aunt, rest her soul😇)
I’ll tag @sailor-cresselia and @frozenmarvel
@askrikkaiandhyotei you are so adorable, thank you!! But I’m not very interesting so let’s see what I come up with…
1. I’ve never broken a bone! Ever, so lucky me, considering I’m nearing thirty :000
2. According to several family members, I like 99% of anything I watch (tv shows, movies, anime), even like ridiculously cheesy or stupid or super bad plots. Which means I’m not a good judge for whether something is good to watch. Meh, it just means I enjoy myself~
3. My favorite movie of all times is The Mummy Returns! I know the whole dialogue and I never tire of watching it.
4. I discovered Kamen Rider Build from a random post in tumblr. After that, KR series have taken over my life. Before that all I’d ever watched in a similar genre was Power Rangers. Also, I swear @narashikari got me into Kamen Rider W and I’ll forever be greatful!!
5. Ummm… I’m an engineer! Makes me feel super smart to remember that.
6. I can barely cook, which my mom is always despairing over, but what I can make is good so at least I eat homecooked meals :D… adulting is hard :/
This was fun, but I had to really think about it. I’m tagging @diamond-night , @legendaryphantommaker, and @cloudyfromoobsession! If you want to join in.
@frozenmarvel thank you for tagging me! I too like pretty much everything put in front of me, on the condition of having enough energy to watch the whole thing. No standards, my only obstacle is my own laziness. Even if it’s just to sit comfortably for 2 hours to finish a movie.
1. I just cut my hair at home, I have no idea how it looks, it’s not choppy and I did a pretty good job but I have no idea if the hairstyle works for me.
2. I don’t like aubergines and will only ever eat them fried.
3. I can never rewatch anything fictional in it’s entirety, same goes with books. Once I watch it, I will never be able to sit through all the filler dramatic parts without skipping to my favs.( Although I think certain fan fictions have proven me wrong in some rare occasions @frozenmarvel :))
4. I don’t like the number 4. Either round it up to 5 or have a golden number of 3. It freaks me out, I don’t know why.
5. What I said before was a lie, I totally know why. I love the Artemis Fowl series, in the Atlantis Complex, he has a thing with this number. I too now have a thing with this number.
6. I wish I had the patience and dedication to learn how to sew properly. Think of all those capes and cloaks and other drapey clothing I could’ve brought into the world. ahhh.
Tagging: @pooshnulooshnu @anti-socialish @lopt-meer @stuck-in-a-fictional-universe @eurosstudyinsherlock
Thanks, @cloudyfromoobsession!
1. When I get older I’d really like to color my hair, not fully but I think it’d be fun to have blue highlights or something
2. Whenever Kitchen Sink (a song by Twenty-One Pilots) comes on my playlist I have the urge to just sit down and rock back and forth. I also do this with Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and Miss Missing You by Fall Out Boy
3. I am not very observant when it comes to myself. My bestfriends tend to surprise me when they notice things about me that I didn’t notice
4. I rarely watch TV unless it’s a show I like (*cough* The Office *cough*) The only time I really watch movies is when I go to a theater
5. Uhhhh…I like country music? Whenever I tell people that they get really confused. Pop punk music is practically all I talk about my I enjoy Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, and old Taylor Swift songs too
6. I recently got a beagle. She’s adorable and her name is Rain and I love her, so yeah

1. I suffer from arachnophobia.
2. I don’t really have a favourite colour.
3. I’m terrible at remembering people’s faces. I frequently talk to people while wondering who they are.
4. One of the things I fell in love with in the US is unsweetened iced tea.

1. I have a dog named Bella. She’s a bullmastiff, but only about 75 pounds, so 98% of people we pass on the street think she’s a Boxer. She is sweet and precious and adorable. My immediate family complains that I love her more than I love them.
2. I’ve been on-and-off working on the same story (it’s a series) for several years. At first I flew through writing six book-sized documents—during that stage I literally wrote 70 pages in a week once—and then started rewriting. When I got to the second “book” rewritten, I came up with another reason to rewrite and went back to do that. Repeat ad nauseam. Hence taking several years. 😂
3. My kid brother is really scared of spiders. I’m not. When we were younger, whenever we walked in the woods, he’d want me to walk in front of him so I’d knock down any spiders. That worked up until he turned thirteen, when he outgrew me. He was not happy about that aspect of height.
4. As a kid I had a habit of putting bugs in my pocket and just generally carrying them around. My mom still laughs about the time I chased my grandma around the patio with a worm. (I was…probably about five or six.)
5. I’m that one person who can study the night before the test and still do really well.
6. I love shrimp.

1. My name isn’t Bella or Belle (Or any other variant, It does start with a B though.)😊
2. I have a stuffed puppy named fetch.🐶 (I’ve had him since my 4th birthday.)
3.💃🏻 I’m an older sister, my lil bro is 9. (But he seems younger because of his Down’s syndrome and Autism.)
4. I’ve never really been out of my province. 🍁 (Only once when I was a baby but that doesn’t really count.)
5. My favorite tv show is BBC’s Sherlock. 🕵🏻♂️
6. I’m 5′11 which is very tall for a girl. 🙃

Uh…I was born with a deformity on my left hand, I can use it and all, but my fingers are kind of bent, so for the first 3 years of my life I was left-handed until surgery and after that I had to adapt to my right hand.
I basically discovered my love for reading when I was a kid, and often wouldn’t sleep, so my mom would take away my books to make sure I got a good night’s sleep
We had cable growing up and there I developed my love for history and documentaries. I mean, I was watching stuff about the apocalypse and medieval warfare when I was… 9
Working on my way to being trilingual by learning Danish. Spanish and English are the two I grew up speaking and learning.
I absolutely HATE big gatherings and often either hide in a room or in the bathroom
I’m 4 ft. 8 in tall (so like…1.42 m)
I tag @wildandwhirlingwords @epic-summaries @reyavie @cukibola @ladywithalamp and @faewriter
Alright
1. Apparently, I learned how to read in English before doing so in Spanish. The reason being in school they expected our parents to teach us so, my parents expected the school to do so, and until they got the situation I learned when I was 5 instead of 3 like the rest of my classmates (but the joke was on them for I did read faster than all of them! Mwhahahaha!). School did teach us to read in English at 3 (mind you, very simple concepts such as “caterpie” or “ladybird”). If you ever wonder, my current degree is English Studies
2. I love bad movies and documentaries. B series, Z series, History Channel… I don’t care. I once did an essay on Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and claimed it’s the Avengers of the B movies. At the time it was an absolute praise. Anyways, I love Norse mythology as well, but unlike many people my first encounter with its representation in pop culture wasn’t Marvel Thor. You know where this is going… My interest in Norse mythology happened after I saw Son of the Mask, and more exactly Alan Cummings as Loki (btw, I need an actual good film that casts Alan as Loki and has time and material to shine).
3. I have three scars. One is a little spot in the middle of my left hand whose source I don’t remember, other is a bite by my sister in my left wrist, the last one is another bite by my sister again and it’s in my back.
4. I used to collect rosaries. When a relative went to Rome I made them bring me one made with rose petals that came with John Paul’s signature. Probably the interest came because my maternal half of the family is very Catholic and conservative (which is a beautiful way to say facha), and probably they thought that by supporting this interest they’d sorta “got me back on the rails”. I’ve stopped because people were creeped out whenever they came to my room and saw such collection hanging from the walls. I’m still very much not religious and not conservative (facha) btw.
5. I love the abbreviation btw.
6. Whenever my professor of History of the English Language says English grammar became less flexible and more simple due to the Norman influence I have to restrain myself of screaming in happiness. I’m serious.
I tag @kashilascorner @gringolet and @greek-suitehearts
Of course!
1. I won my first writing competition last year during book week. It was nothing big, me and four other members (my two artistic good friends and my ex friend who also drew, while i wrote the whole story) were all rewarded 1st Place. I felt accomplished in that moment, like i was rewarded for doing something i LOVED to do.
2. I was actually pretty behind studying as a kid. My native language was like an alien language, and I struggled learning Tagalog because of all the American shows (a.i. Barney, Hi-5, Disney and Nick Shows) and because mom and dad talked in english all the time. My mom told me that I had ADD (minus the H because i wasn’t hyperactive). Thankfully by the time I turned 13, I was able to read adequately WELL in English and okay-ish in Tagalog.
3. I often start my sentences with “like”. It’s the way I express myself.
4. My friend (Tomato, if you must know her alias) dragged me into the world of Final Fantasy and thanks to her I’m now trash XD. Noctis from 15 is my favorite💕
5. Out of all the books I owned, the A Series of Unfortunate Events and the Rick Riordan series are my most valuable. I have the Percy Jackson series, the Heroes of Olympus, and Kane Chronicles. I am now investing in Magnus Chase for reasons of wanting to learn about Norse gods. The only Rick Riordan series I won’t complete is Trials of Apollo, because I sold The Dark Prophecy because of a chapter that made me feel really annoyed at best XD (it’s a tiny reason really, but it bugged me a lot until I decided to sell it) (i spent that money on another book XD)
6. I have glasses and I’m practically blind without them.
Tagging: @ellakay69 @loloisafangirl @greek-myth-bullshit @nerdformythology @trashamemnon @my-name-is-apollo @nejuanito @comet-was-here @sunni-808 @thegirlwonder379 @rosegoldtunic and anyone who wants to!!💙
1. My favourite holiday is Christmas. I just love being with my family and receiving presents and eating all sorts of sweets and cakes.
2. I’m very keen on politics, despite being a too young for that.
3. I’m a writer - I usually like to write tales and poetry, and I also love reading… I read lots of books, and get frustrated when I don’t have time to read them all.
4. Although I’m taking classes about science and math, I absolutely LOVE history and usually spend some time searching about historical figures on the internet and books I have at home.
5. I’m an only child, and love spending time alone, listening to music, dancing, singing and reading.
6. I’m very hardworking and an excellent student. I’m very good at Math, it’s my best subject.
If anyone wants to do it, go ahead!

Gasp. I'm surprised to be included on one of these, thank you. 🌹
1. One time I was so blinded by rage that I seemingly forgot that we had a porch and I stomped right off of it onto the cement. (There were no serious injuries but I was merely surprised that I had forgotten.)
2. I find Hades and Persephone an ideal match despite the obvious age difference along with them being related. Their love for each other is beautiful and something I can only hope to one day achieve. (Just throwing this out there in case someone takes this the wrong way. I don't support these types of things in real life.)
3. My favorite food is dark chocolate with pomegranate. It's a sweet tart delicacy that can even be placed on top of a cake.
4. I was raised on a farm in the middle of nowhere during the vital years of my life. I used to think my parents and the farm hands were the only other people on earth and that the entire world was just filled with farms in the middle of nowhere. The cottagecore aesthetics on here sometimes remind me of what it was like and a few even resemble what my life once was.
5. I am a huge believer in the paranormal due to some incidents that have happened in my life over the years. I went from being a skeptic and an atheist to a spiritual believer and getting back in touch with Christianity.
6. I prefer almost every book series in comparison to the movie / show series. The one exception would have to be Game of Thrones but it's only because of the effort they placed into creating the dragons and the Night King.
I nominate @astrolocherry @aphroditiful @happycottage @la-petitefille @ecryre @ofwinterwhispers @psvyche

🔥🌸The Myth Of Hades And Persephone🔥🌸
🔥🌸 The myth of Hades and Persephone is one of the well known Greek myths.
Hades was the brother of Zeus and the god of the underworld.
Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, the Goddess of nature.
The myth of Hades and Persephone is one more myth of love and abduction in the Greek mythology.
🔥 Hades And Persephone: The Beginning Of The Myth 🔥
🔥 Hades fell in love with Persephone and decided to kidnap her. The myth says that in one of the rare times he left the Underworld, he traveled above ground to pursue her, while she was gathering flowers in a field.
🔥 One day Hades, Lord of the Underworld, saw Persephone and instantly fell in love with her.
🔥 Adis (Hades) confided his secret in his brother Zeus, asking for help, so the two of them concocted a plan to trap her. As the girl (Persephone) played with her companions, they caused the ground to split underneath her.
🔥 Persephone slipped beneath the Earth and Hades stole her to the Underworld where he made her his wife.
🔥 The myth says that Persephone was very unhappy, but after much time, she came to love the cold-blooded Hades and lived happily with him.
A Different Version Of The Myth Of Hades And Persephone
🔥 The myth of Hades and Persephone also has a different version; in this one Demeter was present when Persephone was kidnapped by God Hades but was tricked by Zeus and Hades.
🔥 That morning when Demeter descended on Earth with her daughter Persephone , she left her to play with the sea nymphs called Nereids and the Naiads who were the freshwater nymphs of the lakes, springs and rivers.
🌸 Persephone And Flower Narcissus 🌸
🔥 Demeter went to supervise her bountiful crops. As Persephone engaged in play and with the rest of the group, her attention fell upon the potently fragrant valley nearby and she couldn’t take her eyes of the yellow flower narcissus. She called upon her playmates to accompany her, but they couldn’t possibly go with her as leaving the side of their water bodies would result in their death.
🔥 The flower Narcissus was planted there by Gaia, who was following the orders of Zeus. The goal was to enchant Persephone and attract her, away from her guides.
🌸 Hades Kidnapping Persephone 🌸
🌸 Persephone danced her way to the garden alone and tried to pluck the narcissus from the bosom of Gaia. It drained her energies as the narcissus only came out after a lot of pulling. But suddenly, to her utter fright, she saw the tiny hole from which she had drawn out the flower shaft, began to rapid grow in size until it started to resemble a mighty enormous chasm. From this came the vigorous galloping sounds of multiple horses and such sudden happenings only froze the frail beauty to her feet.
🌸 Out of all her friends only the naiad Cyane tried to rescue the crying Persephone but she was no match for the powerful Hades. Bereaving her friend’s kidnap, Cyane melted into a pool of tears and formed the river Cyane at the spot.
🔥 Goddess Demeter Trying To Find Persephone 🔥
🔥 Demeter rushed back to where she had left her daughter and found only the Cyane river there with the other nymphs weeping. Worried as she was, she asked all as to the whereabouts of her beloved daughter.
🔥 Nobody could tell her anything at all and furious that they couldn’t protect her child, she cursed all the nymphs into becoming heinous women with plumed bodies and scaly feet, called the sirens. It was only the river Cyane who helped her by washing over the belt of Persephone, indicating that something gravely wrong had happened.
🔥 Demeter went mad and hunted for her daughter everywhere. The myth says that she even disguised herself as an aged lady and with lighted torched in her hands roamed the Earth for nine long days and nine long nights.
🔥 Finally, she met Hekate, the deity of magic, witchcraft, spirits and crossroads, at the dawn of the 10th day who had pity at her dismal condition and asked her to seek help from the all seeing Helios, the sun god. Helios told Demeter all about how Hades had dragged Persephone into the underworld.
🔥 Persephone In The Underworld 🔥
🔥 Persephone’s mother, Demeter, begged her brother Hades to allow Persephone to come back to the livings, denoting that the young Persephone was not supposed to live in the underworld. Hades consulted with Zeus and they both decided to allow Persephone to live on earth for six months each year, while the rest of the time she would be on his side in the Underworld.
🔥 Before leaving the underworld, Persephone had been persuaded to eat four seeds of a pomegranate. In ancient mythology, to eat the fruit of one’s captor meant that one would have to return to that captor or country, so Persephone was doomed to return to the underworld for four months of the year. But she was allowed to spend the remaining two-thirds of the year with her Earth Mother, Demeter.
🔥🌸 The myth of Hades and Persephone is associated with the coming of Spring and Winter: When Persephone comes to the Earth, it’s springtime. When she descends to Hades, it is winter.
🔥🌸 Celebrating The Myth Of Persephone 🔥🌸
🌸The disappearance and the return of Persephone were the occasions of great festivals in ancient Greece, among them the Elefsinian rites, whose secrets were so closely guarded that little is known about them today.
🌸Some experts believe the rites or mysteries fostered the idea of a more perfect life after death, and thus helped to lay the groundwork for the coming of Christianity, which upholds the idea of everlasting life.
“I trust Persephone’s sinister heart, the exquisite boldness of her mind,”
— Lola Ridge, from To the Many; Collected Poems of Lola Ridge; “Hellish,”
“What they never tell you is that Persephone, after all, belonged there. She became her own underworld. She married the shadows and found peace. The darkness she carried inside of her was worthy of the underworld’s sweet extremities.”
— Lola Ridge, from To the Many; Collected Poems of Lola Ridge; “Hellish,”
“Persephone knew all about damage and secrecy and witchcraft of the loving kind. She worshipped her night flowers. She forgave the darkness. Completely voluntarily. She didn’t need a reason for forgiving it.”
— Lola Ridge, from To the Many; Collected Poems of Lola Ridge; “Hellish,”

Why limit myself to choosing between a pretty, feminine aesthetic, or a dark, fierce one? If Persephone can be both the Goddess of Spring & Queen of the Underworld at the same time, then so can I!
Persephone of Daffodils
The daffodils are here and I can hear your name whispered by the warm wind as you make your way back home.

I am amazed and thankful.
I made this blog barely two months ago to represent my love and fondness for the God & Goddess of the Underworld. Already 200 of you have decided that the content I repost and uploaded was enough to follow me. I never thought I would get this far, in fact I thought at the very most I'd get maybe 10 of you who loves Persephone as much as I do. I'm genuinely taken aback by this. Thank you for thinking that the content on this blog is worth a follow. Have an abundant 2019 and witness Persephone do her magnificent work as Spring continues to bloom around the world.
