Those participating in the PolyTransfer Summer Program will have the pleasure of attending a writing workshop with English and Gender, Ethnic, and Multicultural Studies professor Dr. Shayda Kafai. 

REALITY: According to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, the transfer rate of both full-time and part-time transfer students increased about 8% between 2010 and 2015. 

REALITY: According to the College Board, research shows that students who transfer from a community college earn grades equal to- if not better than- students who go straight from high school to a four-year institution. While many transfer students do experience “transfer shock” (a drop of about a half-point in their GPA) during their first semester after transferring, high school students face a similar transition shock when starting college.   The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center has shown that in California, 62% of students who transferred from a community college to a four-year institution complete their degree.
