Open starter—Before the bite: Nightmare

Mod: little kid Peter stuff cuz I'm hitting fluff writer's block with regular Peter! He'd be at least 6-7 here. Finagle the timelines and all that however you need to for it to fit your muse! Inspired by a suggestion by @soopermax (thank youuu!!)

Tony's been away on business for the last couple of days. Peter hadn't wanted him to leave; the last time he left was Afghanistan, and Peter was exposed to far more news about that and the aftermath than a little kid ever should be. That resulted in a lot of nightmares, and they're even worse now that Tony's not here.

Peter wakes up in the middle of the night, having screamed himself into consciousness. He keeps crying, calling for his dad, not remembering that he's not there. His head immediately turns to the door when it opens.

Admittedly, Asher wasn't exactly sure where he was. He knew he was in a tower of some kind, a really tall tower, actually. Like, insanely tall. Who needed this many floors? And, he also really wasn't sure what he was meant to be looking for. Like, what did an Arc Reactor even look like?

So, it's hardly all that surprising when he gets lost on one of the floors. Namely, the same floor that Peter was on- not that he knew that at the time, of course. As he's wandering through the cooridors, he hears crying. And, he can't just ignore that!

"...Uhm... Hi." Asher says as he pushes open the door, looking away from the other boy. He hadn't... actually thought about what he would do after going into the room. "Are you okay?"

Peter stares at Asher for a moment. He doesn't recognize him, and that's probably not a good thing. He's been kidnapped and stuff before, but... he's a kid, too. This is probably okay, right? He clutches his stuffed lion a bit closer to his chest either way. "Uh-." He rubs at his face, but it doesn't make much of a difference. "I just need- need to see my dad. Make sure he's okay."

Asher frowns- his father is not who he'd go to for comfort. But, he decides to keep that thought inside. Mostly because it's not helpful in the slightest.

"Okay. We can probably do that. Who's your father?" Asher asks, stepping a little bit further into the room.

Peter sits up on the bed, fidgeting with his stuffed lion's mane. "Uh... I'm not supposed to tell that to strangers." He frowns. "What's your name? You're not a stranger if I know your name."

Asher hesitates, a look on his face as if he too was trying to puzzle out his name. Eventually, he draws a blank.

"I don't... I don't remember." Asher mumbles, a small pout on his lips. "I don't think I have a name..."

Peter blinks at him, sniffling a little before wiping at his face with his stuffed animal. "You don't? How don't you have a name?" He frowns. "My name's Peter. And my dad's name is- is Tony."

Asher shrugs, a small, short gesture that looks sadder than it should. "I dunno. I guess I just don't."

"And it's nice to meet you, Peter." He adds, stepping forward. "Does your lion have a name too?"

So, it's hardly all that surprising when he gets lost on one of the floors. Namely, the same floor that Peter was on- not that he knew that at the time, of course. As he's wandering through the cooridors, he hears crying. And, he can't just ignore that!

"...Uhm... Hi." Asher says as he pushes open the door, looking away from the other boy. He hadn't... actually thought about what he would do after going into the room. "Are you okay?"
