Polites's Odyssey

This is a younger design (think titanomachy) just to play around with ideas.

The gods for my vision of my story are pretty amorphous and well, not human (at least in shape)

-they can turn into animals or take on certain features of those animals according to their mood

Perhaps he wasn’t as naive or optimistic in the war, but afterwards he most likely wanted to shift his mindset to positivity. ( Too quickly. ) Which led to him trusting too easily, and ultimately his demise. That is how they were led to the cave in the first place. He barely thought twice about the Lotus Eaters and assumed they were heading the crew in the right direction.

As much as I love him, he is flawed. Almost every single character in the story is flawed. Including the main 3 male mortals. ( As in Eury, Ody, and Poli ) Polites’ naïveté led them to the cave, Odysseus’ pride got Poseidon on their tails, and Eurylochus’ curiosity led him to opening The Wind Bag.

People fail to characterize Polites like the man he is, because no, he isn’t cold and brutal. But he’s not the most merciful and innocent being ever. He’s kind, but we can infer that he’s killed people. He could possibly regret it, we don’t know that. It’s just that his main trait is optimism. I’m tired of people saying that calling Polites naive is infantilizing him, because it’s not. It’s just the truth. Adults can be naive too.

I’m also tired of the entire fandom only blaming one person for all the conflict, because it is very well Polites, Eurylochus, and Odysseus’ fault all together. They each played a role in moving the story further, whether it was positively or negatively.

Eurylochus made some mistakes. That doesn't mean he's a villain.

Telemachus and Polites are just optimistic. That doesn't mean they're naive beings. They have killed people.

Just because someone likes Zeus, Calypso, or Antinous, doesn't mean they're defending their actions

I know Calypso is all alone. But she's not a child. She knows what no means. She knows what a wife is.

Circe does what she does to protect her nymphs. Her daughters.
